Elliptical -- knees and back hurt every time.

Is there a particular posture you're supposed to have? I've tried this many times because of its low imact benefit but after a 1/2 hour, I've hurt more body parts than I would had I just run 4 miles. Help because I would love to incorporate this into my cardio routine.

Elliptical

I use to have the same problem, you need to turn up the resistance, and the incline. If you do this it takes the presure off your knees. Just find the level that works for you

Resistance - or other machine?

Better if your gym has ArcTrainers - the BEST cardio machine workout besides running and zero impact.

Ellipticals mess up my knees, too, and I'm an avid spinner.

When you increase the resistance your muscles have to work harder - if your muscles are engaged it protects your joints. Same thing with spinning. Dangerous to spin with no resistance on, you'll trash your knees.
