Beans that make you .... less

looking for some beans that are more conducive to being around other human beings. I'm new to the legumes!

lentils are slightly easier to digest because of their smaller size-a lot of people don't have trouble with gas with lentils (they also cook faily quickly because of their size!).

also-in general, try eating beans more frequently (scary at first!) and your body may get better at digesting them. if that doesn't work, keep a little supply of beano on hand!

White beans and garbanzo beans are definitely easier for me to digest. I have a great chili recipe that uses chicken and white beans and I love garbanzo beans (also called chickpeas) in salads, wraps and soups.

soaking your beans overnight before cooking will also reduce the flatulence they induce. "bean-o" is actually is designed to help counter the gas-producing effect of beans-works with the enzymes that cause it.

canned baked beans are an awesome source of low-fat/fat-free protein...and they are available in vegetarian varieties, too! easliy reheated and enjoyable on their own with some whole grain bread/crackers. yum, yum!

Goya black beans are awesome! I love them mixed with white rice and chicken or fish.
