Diet issues needing some advice
lately I've been consuming around 500 calories a day. which is probably all I need honestly because I'm never hungry. I used to eat way more than I needed but now I'm losing weight and have lost approx. 30 lbs. Whenever I eat now no matter what it is, even if I'm hungry I feel guilty! Are these signs of a developing eating disorder? The people around me think im not eating enough and they are worried i just want to know if maybe they do need to worry or if I need to worry about myself. LOST AND CONFUSED!

You are definitely not eating enough and I think your friends/family are right to worry about you. Look at previous posts that are similar. Recently there was one titled "is this good?" Your body will go into starvation mode if consuming under 1000 calories per day. Don't hurt your body. It's the only one you've got. Being thin and being healthy are not necessarily the same thing. You seem obsessed with your food and the calories you're consuming. You may need to seek professional help. Tell your dr. Your dr. will be able to tell you about the short and long term effects of eating too little. We live in a very educated society regarding nutrition. Maybe we all need to pay better attention to it.

You do need to eat more food. 500 calories a day tells me that aneroxia may be a real possibility. Please talk to your doctor, or call an eating disorder support group. You may not even have an eating disorder (as opposed to making really detrimental food choices), but listening to the stories of women (and men) whose lives have been broken may get you back on track. Good luck, and keep us informed.

I advise you, and all of you really, to have a consultation with a nutritionist. Although its pricey just a one time visit is really helpful. I suffered from multiple eating disorders in the past, ranging from anorexia to compulsive over eating. I never knew what the right balance or the right weight for me was, and having a professional explain your personal needs to you is extremely helpful. It is possible to lose weight in a healthy way and a nutritionist can tell you how to do that based on your specific needs. 500 calories may be enough to satisfy your hunger but its not enough to satisfy your liver, kidneys, heart, bones, nails, hair and the over all functions of your body. Those things not being at their best will effect your appearance just as much as your weight. good luck:)
