What are you giving up for Lent?

I have decided that it will be the time to finally give up my vice of smoking. hope it to be more than a forty day change, obviosly.
What are all the other Catholics out there giving up?

I have made the commitment to read and pray each day a couple of pages of the purpose driven life. I do better by adding sacrafices. If I say I am going to give up sweets the chances of me making 40 days is very little!

I gave up sleep. I get up a little earlier each morning to study the Bible and spend time in prayer. Now I don't feel like I've really given anything up at all. I enjoy the quiet time before the Lord so much that I will continue doing it even after Easter.

I'm giving up diet soda, and my daughter (usually a vegetarian) is being a vegan. BTW, Lent isn't just for Catholics; we're Lutheran.

To the OP - Good for you. Giving up smoking is not easy and I admire you for doing it. Let's hope it doesn't end when Lent ofs over.

I am not Catholic so Lent is not a driver for me. I give up things when I recognize they are hurting me or that I would be better off without.
