Couch to 5K program
Has anyone tried this program?
If so, how was it for you?
How much weight did you lose on it?

I did something similar. I didn't have a ton of weight to lose, but it got me in great shape.
Running is a great form of excercise, as long as your knees can handle it:) Its also something you can do in a shoter amount of time. its easier to commit to 20-30 minutes of running then an hour or more in a class.

I did a 2 month program - and lost about 10 pounds (but I was also doing weight training). I got down to a size 6.

I have a lot to lose. I go to the gym at least 3 times a week but get easily bored. I am excited about starting something new. The first day I tired it I barely got to 5 minutes. Day 2 I walked 90 seconds and jogged 30. I still got real tired after 5 minutes but it is a start. It felt GREAT!
By the way, this was after my normal 20-30 minutes on the stationary bike.

I was thinking about this during my run today
I finished the couch to 5K program several weeks ago. I really liked it and NEVER thought I'd be someone who liked to run. There were some tough weeks, but I stuck it out and really felt great when I hit that last run.
Anyway, I was just thinking about the weight loss question. I think that I've found that I didn't lose so much weight during the program (there were other acomplishments, like endurance, toning my body, etc.). But now that I've finished and I'm still running three times a week for a minimum of half an hour, I'm seeing the weight really come off. Combined with some biking, I'm losing about a pound a week.
I think the key to weight loss with this program is continuing even after you have technically finished. The program itself just helps prepare your body for running long enough to start using that as a cardio tool.

I started a week ago and love it. I am not looking to actually lose any weight just tone up and find an exercise I really live doing.

I think the challenege of trying to push myself, even for 60 secounds at a time has helped me in week 1.
I used to just walk at the same pace for 30-40 minutes, and I find this more challenging.

I started running using the couch to 5 K a few years ago. I can't say how much of my weight loss was due to the program, because I was also lifting and doing yoga. but it is terrific and DEFINITELY helped me take the wieght off. Great, great program. And I still run!
