How do you recommend PeerTrainer without insulting someone?
Have you ever wanted to suggest to someone you meet at the gym or from work that they may be interested in PT, but you don't want to come across as saying "You obviously need help losing weight, so let me give you a suggestion" I'm afraid someone will take offense, but I also want to recommend PT because it helps so many people. What's a tactful way of bringing up PT?

I always talk about how it has helped me and the great information that I have gotten from people on it. If your doing it to a total stranger that may be a different story. I talk to the same people on a regular basis at the gym, not sure if I would say it to someone I didn't already have a relationship with.
Could you put up a flyer at your gym?

you could ask as a general question if this person has ever heard of peertrainer. if so, well, you can converse about it. if not, you could bring up some of the ways the site has helped you. i would caution against being overly enthusiastic about it, try to be matter-of-fact about it. at least for me, when someone pushes something really forcefully towards me, it kind of turns me off.

I'm the opposite. When someone really pushes something, then I want to know about it. I think they must be into it for a reason. I've gotten my aunt here by forming a group and telling her to join it. I talk about peertrainer all the time, it's changed me.

has this person asked how you've lost weight? or asked for tips or your help? If so, go for it, tell them about PT and how it could help him or her. otherwise-if they are showing up to the gym and trying-i would leave it alone unless you become closer to this person.

Focus on the fitness aspect. Hey - I know a great place where people who like to be fit and make a solid effort to be healthy all get together and keep each other motivated and accountable.

I've mentioned PT to two different people just this week. I usually bring it up if the conversation is remotely eating/health/fitness oriented.

I agree with 3:34 - it comes up in conversation, such as "I saw a link to an article about ____" on PeerTrainer".

I find myself mentioning PT all the time just because it's part of my daily life. And I have a bumper sticker on my car, too!

Me too. I end up saying "pt" in conversation and someone says what's PT? I guess it's a part of my daily life as well.
