OT: and gross GAS!
Yes, I know gas has been covered here before, but . . . I needed to discuss this! I have really, really bad smelling gas-mostly at night (gas I pass in the daytime can be bad too, but I find it isn't as awful as what I pass at night.). I do eat a pretty high fiber diet, lots of whole grains, fruits and vegetables, lots of water. I have discovered recently that I am somewhat lactose intolerant-because I am guaranteed to smell horrible after eating ice cream. But even when I don't have any dairy for a day or two, I still have pretty foul gas! I do eat a lot of onions and garlic-could this be the problem? Or could I have something more serious going on? (My bowel movements are normal and daily, and have not changed).
I'm so embarrassed to even write this on here-gas is one thing, but gas that stinks up the place is a lot worse!

I'm not a doctor but take 2 beano and call me in the morning.

Beano only works on the gas you'd get from beans.
And I have the same problem. My husband keeps telling me I should "get my insides checked" LOL!!!!
There are certain foods or combos that seem to make it worse, but I'm not about to stop eating all of those foods.
Sorry I can't help you, but I'm interested in anything that will help too.

I've read that garlic and onions are from the sulphur familly-and sulphur stinks! so that might be the problem . . .

Definitely garlic!
I had the same problem when I was eating a lot of garlic, and I was taking a garlic pill every day to try to wipe out a little head cold. Things are much better now that I'm consuming garlic in smaller and less frequent portions. Try eliminating it for a few days just to see if it helps.

Garlic farts can clear out a roomful of people....
I find that I can't even stand to be around myself when I get them!
I understand that eating Parsley can help to combat garlic breath-- not sure if it's true on the other end...

Oh and if you are allergic to molds, don't take beano-- it made me break out in hives...

I'm the poster from 2/6/07 1:14
I don't take any garlic pills, or eat a lot of garlic or onions.
Anybody else have some other ideas what's causing my "clearing the room" problem?

subsiding the stench
Here are a few ways I've heard and read about recently for helping with the problem:
Yogurt contains a good bacteria to fight of nasty farts.
you can reduce intake of most refined carbohydrates such as rice, pasta potatoes and breads which would help in the decreace of said fart.
Medicinal activiated charcoal tablets have also been reported in reducing bolth odor and quantity of gas when you take it before food that is likely to cause the on set of the offensive act.
Also pepperment tea is supposed to help as well. If anything maybe they would smell better:)
I know this subject is sensitive so I hope I could give some advice in a humorous way to lighten the mood:) hopefully one of these suggestions will work. Good luck.
