crabby vegetarian

I just got served some of the sorriest nachos on the planet. Canned refried beans and some lukewarm Velveeta.

Why is it that when I go out to eat with non-vegetarians the only options for me as a veggie person seem to be french fries, iceberg lettuce salads or nachos without the taco meat?

Vegetarian food can be so much more interesting and healthy than that!

Wow, where do you live? I know every restaurant I go into has a lot of different options for vegetarians. Maybe you need to suggest something next time. I am shocked that you can't seem to find a good salad. Even at fast food places you can eat vegetarian.

veggie food

yeah, that really sucks. there are many places out where i am that offer great options for vegetarians, but they usually are not your typical chain restaruant; you gotta search for them or go to a non-american place. you should invite your friends to go eat with you!
here is a website that i find very valuable. you can find places in your area that offer vegetarian/vegan food. good luck and happy eating!

did you go to lamberts? that is the worst place for vegetarians (or for losing weight) it's disgusting! even the veggie plate has bacon and butter in everything.

i feel you, man

OP here

Thanks for listening to me crab. I was super-frustrated on Friday!

I live in Denver, where there are a bunch of great veggie options.... but no one here in the office will ever go with me to eat at one of them. They only like "bar food", so if I want company at lunch, I have to go to the bars or greasy spoon-type diners with everyone else.

I guess that's the price to pay for not eating alone every day....

If they'll go to diners...

Order egg-white omelettes with a bunch of veggies and some mozzarella, and ask for fruit on the side instead of bread or potatoes or whatever they bring. Ask for whole wheat toast without any butter. Diners are great b/c they serve breakfast all day!

For bar food, well, it's not healthy, but there are always cheese quesadillas! Some of them serve individual pizzas and stuff like that too. If you watch the serving size, you'll do okay. Bring some food from home - an apple or some grapes - and eat it 20 minutes before you all go to lunch. Then you can get something that you actually want to eat, but only eat a small serving of it, and then it's not so bad!
