Dr Oz/Perricone/Detox Diets-- What CAN I eat??

I am gradually cutting toxic things out of my diet-- but where do I stop and what the heck can I eat. Things on the list I can't eat now are dairy, meat, eggs, baked stuff, sugary stuff. Seems like 90% of what we eat in the US is bad for you in some way.

The money question is what can I eat? Especially what fills you up, that is also good for you.

Well based on what you've cut out so far, it sounds like what you've got left is..

legumes
grains
potato/yam
fruit
vegetable
nuts
water

here is a little background on perricone. Seems to work for those who want their skin to look better.

First of all, GOOD FOR YOU! It's awesome that you are taking control! I too cut out toxins in my life...thanks to the Skinny Bitch regime. I started out with fasting and cutting things out cold turkey. The first few days were tough and I thought oh my God, how am I going to survive 10 days on bananas? Truth is, there are lots and lots of good things you can eat that are also good for you.

You'll just have to do a little research for inspiration. I am now a vegetarian and have looked up cookbooks for vegetarians and have found a plethora of things I can eat.

Something that is helping me is keeping the motto, "eat things in their most natural state or as close to". Meaning, avoid processed junk.

Makes you realized how heavily processed most of our foods are, right?

Don't forget the whole wheat or rice pastas, whole grain crackers, hummus, bean dips, etc.

It's overwhelming to think of cutting all of these things out of the diet - I've been struggling with just the idea of it for months and months. Hate to say it, but Skinny Bitch actually changed my thinking a bit! It got me to consider that I CAN eat all of those processed, sugary, fat laden foods, but do I WANT to do that to my body? I don't feel so deprived any more - I feel good about making great choices for my body! They also have a list of friendly foods - you can go to various vegetarian and vegan websites too for more ideas on what foods you can eat - some of which are packaged.
