can you keep your diet on track while drinking?
the holiday season is tricky for me because its party after party, dinners, potlucks, old friends... its wonderful...but theres always red wine or champagne and I want to be able to relax and get a little tipsy with family and friends...but its like once i've had a drink I want to munch on holiday cookies or whatever is around! does this happen to anyone else? I usually avoid drinking for this reason but sometimes its just nice to be able to have some wine! If others experience this...do you have any tips that work for you? Is this common? maybe its just a personal thing, and I'll give up my wine for my waistline...but I'm just curious..

I have the same issue. I have two suggestions. One, really limit how much you're going to drink. Two, decide in advance that you are simply not going to touch most of the food. Find a couple of things that you can eat, but lay off anything like chips, cheese, sweets. I can't control amounts of food very well if I'm drinking, but I can control types.

I do pretty well with setting a parameter on myself that I can either drink OR eat. While drinking is famous for giving you the munchies at a time when you have no will power for the "shoulds", it's possible to stick to your guns as long as you don't get loaded beyond redemption.
