Hungry after you eat veggies?
I love veggies, but I find that it's never enough. 30 minutes after I'm done with my large salad or bag of baby carrots I'm starving! And I mean STARVING! I'm hungier than I was before I ate. Does this happen to anyone else? How can I fix this? Any tips would greatly be appreciated. And yes, I've tried drinking tons of water too.

I need help as well. Last night I ate veggies, drank a ton of water. The only thing that seemed to help was a Twix Bar!

This SO happens to me too. I eat really healthy and then I want a huge brownie sundae. I have to eat more frequently when I eat more veggies. I do the whole 6 meals a day thing.

Try adding some fat
I find that Veggies are much more satisfying if there is a little bit of fat with them. I like adding a bit of olive oil. This method seems to satisfy me much better.

I agree with adding a little fat, and I say add a little protein, too. Cheese is a good way to do this, or some grilled chicken or some beans or tuna. Getting a balance of carbs (veggies), fat, and protein can make you stay feeling full longer. Also remember that lots of veggies are very low calorie. So your huge salad may only be getting you 300 or 350 calories (especially if you're not eating dressing), which for me, at least, only lasts a couple of hours tops, no matter what it is that I'm eating.

I agree with the poster above. You need some fat (preferable olive oil, which is really best) and a little protein (a portion worth). Most proteins taste great with veggies too, beans, tofu, eggs, chicken, red meat, the list goes on and on.

I once went vegan. Completely vegan, no fish, no dairy at all. I learned what "they" did to meat and the downside of dairy and decided to go the vegan route. I ended up not being so experienced in it and walked around hungry for 2 full weeks. I worked fish back into my diet but within a week, I was back to dairy, cheese, whatever I could get my hands on because my body had felt incredibly deprived. Just vegetables can make your body go into a starvation mode, I'm convinced, where you will binge later on. Combining the vegetables with other things will prevent overeating later.

Protein and fat work together to...
help you feel more full for a longer period of time. A nutritionist I spoke to once recommended 8 oz of lean meat (protein) a day, as well as 2 tbls flax seed oil (fat).

I'm a big fan of a hanful of walnuts and/or a bit of goat cheese on salads. Again with the fat thing.

if you eat just veggies as a meal, it is not surprising you would still be hungry. Try adding some protein and fat to the mix.
watch out for the carrots, especially if you are counting carbs at all. They are a relatively starchy vegetable.
