to lose wight, does water temperature matters?

I have heard many people say they lose pounds by drinking hot water, I`m not sure in whether water temperature matters or not. As a fact water does help you, but if heated does it helps more?

I've never heard that, but maybe the temperature of the water (heated) helps with digestion (like things mix better in hot water than cold water). I don't know.

i've actually read on here that cold water speeds up your metabolism because your body has to work harder to get it to room temperature. Who knows??? I have no clue, I just drink it.

I heard that warm water is better for your body, but drinking cold water burns calories since it needs to be brought up to body temperature.

Ditto the 12:48 poster...but I found a real number to apply to the cold water theory in, hm, I think it was Fitness magazine, in the last 2-3 months in an article about easy ways to boost calorie burn or metabolism or something. It claimed that drinking your 8 glasses of water as cold as you can take it burns and extra 50-100 calories a day. That seems kind of high to me, but I guess they applied the definition of a calorie to this (hope I'm remembering it correctly):

1 calorie = the amount of energy it takes to heat 1L of water 1 degree celsius.
So if you drink 2L ice water (67.5oz to be exact) at 1 celsius (~33F) and your body heats it up to 38C (I believe that's our body temp in celsius, give or take a degree)....that's 2L x 37 degrees = 74 calories.

water should be ICE COLD

to answer your question, I asked a friend who is a dietican and she said that it should be ice cold because your body works harder to warm it up which in turn burns more calories, she also said that if you get sick of drinking water suck on ice cubes with lemon in them. Haven't tried them yet but I am making some to try
