Hollywood Diet??

Has anyone tried the hollywood diet, where you drink the fruit juice for 2 days?? I would like to try it to drop like 5 pounds for a special occasion. I just want to know if it will work. If you have tried it please let me know!! Thanks!!

This is just really unhealthy in my opinion.

Unless you're doing it as a detox fast or something like that.

hehehe

I did it once. Worked better than a colonic to clean out the system. Just pick a quiet weekend where you can stick close to your personal water closet.

A healthier alternative...

Is the Fat Flush Plan by Ann Louis Gittleman. It seems that the average is 10 lbs the first week. AND...you don't have to starve yourself. You eat regular meals, just cut out salt, sugar, starch (for first two weeks), etc. The diet is actually intended to be a life-long change...but since the first week has such great results, I have done just that part before.

Cut out Starch

Isn't that similar to cutting carbs a la "Adkins diet"?

I think, in the Fat Flush Plan, you eat only meat and veggies for the first 2 weeks, so it's way more hardcore than Atkins! And afterward, you add foods back in slowly and if you add a food and then start to gain weight, then that's a food that you cut back out and leave it out - it tells you what types of foods cause you, personally, to gain weight and which don't. So it's more personalized than Atkins, Atkins is more general.

To the person who tired it...

What kind of juices do you drink, can you drink odwalla juices or just the plain stuff (all natural of course)?

re: Cut out Starch

The previous comment is correct. You do cut out a lot of foods for two weeks, but then you add individual items back into your diet. I personally never cut out chocolate - although I did cut back - and I lost 10 pounds. All with healthy food.

And the Fat Flush Plan does not restrict all carbs. Vegetables are unlimited and you can have two fruit servings per day.

and I forgot... so you lose a couple of pounds (it turns out... we really are all full of crap) and it is time for the big event... you're wearing a pair of pantyhose, girdle whatever. alll dressed up... you have a little alcohol... then wham... YOU REALLY HAVE TO GO!!!! AND THERE'S A LINE! (yes i do speak from experience with this juice)

then you pack on twice to three times the weight you lost, and your tummy is upset for a couple of weeks and you definitely don't feel like working out.

on the other hand, if you've been working in the midwest for a few months and all the flour, fat and sugar have combined into a giant donut around your intestines and you just don't want to get off the couch, I highly recommend it.

Cheaper Hollywood?

Nobody really answered this one well.
I tried it a couple of years ago and lost about 8 pounds in two days. I though it was pretty cool, but it is like $30...

so I wonder...it tastes like apricot nectar, could you just buy that for cheaper and drink that for a few days and lose the 5-10 lbs w/o the $30 expediture??

just do one day

I've done the Hollywood diet several times. Yes, it is a quick fix, but sometimes that's just what we're looking for. It is a really good way to kick-start a diet too because it makes you feel thin right away. You get the best bang for your buck on the first day, so I only do it for one day at a time. You can buy the one-day one which is smaller, or the 2-day one and just do half one day and then the other half in a week or so. You definitely pee a lot, and if you're a caffeine drinker, you may have withdrawal headaches, but just see it through for that one day and you'll be happy you did. I currently have a small bottle staring at me every time I open the fridge. Waiting to get the willpower to do it...

Don't do it. You're just going to mess up your metabolism. If you want to lose weight fast but in a healthy way, I'd go with the South Beach Diet Phase I or Fat Smash Diet.

Don't do it

I tried the Hollywood diet years ago before I understood how to lose weight the healthy way. You will lose weight while you drink the juice but to me it's not worth starving yourself. And after you stop doing it, you end up gaining the weight you lost right back. I felt like I had very litte energy while doing this and I would not recommend it to anyone.

What about a fruit fast? Or a veggie fast? Eat all the fruit and veggies you want (besides avocado) and you'll lose a ton-without starving yourself.

What is the juice and where do you buy it? Is the Hollywood diet different than the fat flush system?

All these people that are like "don't do it".. what is the big deal, not eating for a coupla days won't hurt you at all.
So my question is do you really have to spend the $30?

Here are the ingredients:
Ingredients and nutrition: Purified water, fructose, pineapple juice concentrate, orange juice concentrate, artificial flavors, apple juice concentrate, prune juice concentrate, white grape juice concentrate, lemon juice concentrate, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate, xantham gum, potassium citrate, bilberry extract, green tea extract, gingko biloba extract, grapeseed extract, ascorbic acid.

at 8 servings of 100 calories each that is 400 calories a day!
Couldn't you just slap this together yourself with a couple of juices a couple of spoonfuls of sugar (apparently) and some green tea for like half that price??

HOLLYWOOD DIET

I have tried it several times and I lost a lot of weight each time. When I did it for 2 days, I lost 8-10 pounds. Once (for fun) I did it for 4 days and I lost 13lbs.

BTW, I found mine at Walmart for $19.99. :)
