Reason for tummy weight gain?
I've been sticking to my diet and I've remained the same weight but over the past month or so I've gained sort of a pouch in my belly... I've been drinking alot of water (maybe 100 oz a day) could I have somehow expanded my stomach? I've also been under alot of stress,is there a link? My habits havent changed but my body has. Anyone have any ideas as to why this could happen?

This will probably elicit lots of negative postings but stress increases cortisol which leads to weight gain through an intricate hormonal process. I have found that the South Beach diet works for me. I have insulin resistance and one of the characteristics of this is more of an apple body shape, weight in the middle. South Beach allows for healthy carbohydrates but eliminates proceesed ones.

I weigh and measure regularly and I know for sure that I lose inches from my hips a lot faster than I lose inches from my abdomen. Is it possible that you are losing inches faster from your hips, making your abdomen only appear to be larger?

South Beach has helped me with that pouch too. I also saw the doctors who wrote the book "YOU: ON A DIET" on the Oprah a couple of weeks ago. Their plan is to help eliminate that pouch/waist. From watching the show, it appears that it follows the same principles of South Beach by eliminating white foods, hydrogenated fats, saturated fats and sugars and increasing exercise. Pretty much common sense stuff. It's kinda neat in that they discuss how the body works and how that bad stuff contributes to a growing waist line.

Also, I find that getting enough calcium helps keep off the belly pooch.

For me, it was definitely the stress! I had a big belly while planning my wedding in September. After the wedding was over, I resumed exercising (I was exercising before the wedding, too) and lost 3.5" from my waist in 6 weeks!
Other ideas:
Pregnancy
Too much beer
working on your abs while not pulling in your stomach

Time of the month? My tummy swells for about 10 days around that time.

Absoutely agree with the above posters..simple carbohydrates and cortisol.

Maybe you should try kicking up the water. I've read that you need at least 2.5 liters of water per day. That sounds like a lot, but if you just get a big jug and keep it by you all day, it's really easy to drink as much water as your body needs. Of course, you'll have to go to the bathroom like crazy, but it works. :)

Could just be where you gain weight? I've gained about 15 pounds recently and it went to my hips/belly and now I've got a little pooch?

Sometimes when you're drinking too much it packs on the bulge around the middle.
