After an early week of too much Halloween candy I saw my weigh in weight for the week slipping away and my hopes of losing weight this week dwindling, but yesterday I was good. I even was forced to go to Fazoli's for dinner for my mom's birthday and birthday cake. I had a grilled chicken salad at Fazoli's, ate just a few bites of cake and dropped a full lb yesterday and now I'm back on track with both my weight and my motivation.
I have other long term success stories I can share but I think from the topic of your post you should focus on your own short term success story starting right now.

Very short term success story - last night I started out with one big serving of food on my plate for dinner. After I finished, I went and helped myself to seconds, even though I wasn't hungry anymore. After one bite of my second serving, I was already awash in guilt for eating when I as no longer hungry. I walked back to the kitchen and wrapped up my food and put it in the fridge. Ate no more all night. It was a struggle, but I was proud of myself and think this little mini-victory over temptation is worth celebrating.
Medium term success story - On September 15th, I set out a goal on the Thanksgiving Challenge team to lose 15.8 pounds by the day after Thanksgiving. It's now 14 days away from the day after Thanksgiving and I've got only 2.6 pounds left to go. (I bought a digital scale this summer, so now I think of my weight loss in decimal points.)
Longest term success on PT to date - I joined PT on May 30th and this morning on the scale my weight loss went over the big 50. That is right, as of this morning, I weigh 50.9 pounds less than I did on my first day on PeerTrainer. Still have a long way to go, but this is a super exciting milestone.
Think listing our victories (rather than our downfalls) might give us all a little bit of inspiration as we look towards the next several weeks of holidays, holiday parties, holiday sweets and hopefully try to avoid that special present most of us give ourselves by the end of the holiday season - extra pounds by January as a permanent keepsake of the holiday season.

i always thought i was eating healthy, but after gaining a few pounds since i moved into college, i've totally reworked my eating habits. last night, looking over all my old logs, i can see a dramatic shift in my diet as of a few weeks ago. it's amazing, and i can't believe what i used to eat! i'm still not perfect (no one is!) but it felt really good to see that and i felt like a success!

Since last year this time, I've dropped 27 pounds. True, that is only a little over 2 pounds per month, but the year included family reunions/holidays, the sickness and death of a family member, and a lost job. Many of the most difficult months were only "maintenance" months, trying just to maintain my progress, but I'm really happy to have made it this far -- my goal is now just 14 pounds away, instead of 41 pounds away last year.

I joined PT om 10/5/06 after losing no weight in 2 years. I am now down 9.8 pounds in just over one month and have made HUGE changes in my lifestyle. Yesterday I went to a fabulous restaurant and ordered grilled chicken with no sauce and cottage cheese instead of fries. I would not have ordered that one month ago.
