I am taking my daughter to Disney World next month and I am looking for any tips or helpful advice about Disney World. I will be staying on site at a Disney Resort. Thanks!

Also check out the reviews at epionins.com for both Disney World and your resort. Some of the reviews are very detailed with lots of helpful advice and info.

8:22 poster-We are going for 6 days in the parks. I am planning the first day(half day) at Magic Kingdom, then Epcot, MGM, Magic Kingdom again, Animal Kingdom and last day at Magic Kingdom again. Is 2 1/2 days too much for Magic Kingdom? Do you think an 8 year old will last all day for 6 days or should I plan to return to the hotel mid-day? What has worked for you?

Don't Jump Parks In a Given Day
One thing we have learned is that you waste too much time trying to go from one park to another in a given day. Stick with one and return to the hotel to relax if you think you are done for the day.
Also make sure you check out the speed pass options (not sure what Disney calls it). These passes greatly reduce your time waiting in line by either letting you go to an expedited line or giving you an appointment time for the ride.
One last trick that we use on occassion. When you enter the park at the beginning of the day go directly to the attraction nearest the back of the park and work your way back to the gates. This way you reduce the crowds for the first half of your day and you end up near the gates when you want to leave. A small variation on this is that when faced with a fork in the path go to the left. Most people naturally go to their right.

will exhaust yourselves trying to do it all
be aware of all the ads.... all the theme parks and rides have become ads for some company. Give your kid a set allowance (my mom "gave" me $.50 for every state I found on a liscence plate when we drove down from IL to FL-just to keep me busy... I recall I had about $13 to spend- and this was 20 years ago anyway) so she is spending her own money and all the neat trinkets won't end up going home with you and your money staying.
We (my dh and I) did 3 days and tried to hit the 3 parks and stayed at Dixie Landings... was not impressed with that inn.. it smelled swampy. We still have a plastic coffee mug... anyway we were exhausted after trying to do all of this, and that was after a week long cruise... honeymoon. SO I would gather that an 8yr old would get tuckered out, depending on your pace.

make sure to locate the best areas to meet in each section of the park should you become separated from each other.

If I become seperated from my 8 year old, I will have a heart attack! I don't plan to let her out of my site! =)

well, to be sure, not many people plan for that type of thing, which is why it is essential to be prepared should the unexpected occur. just a few words of advise-i'm not trying to alarm you, just to help avoid the potential panic of having to search a park because you did not have a plan in place.

im the 2nd posted on the thread...sorry i was gone for a bit ..so i would do only one park a day. since you are at a resort on the grounds they are closer and you could go home and eat or swim mid day and go back but be sure and stay for the night shows and the parades they are awesome. i took my son when he was 11 and we were there from 10 am till the park closed (asleep on the bub back LOL) i would take the 4 days at the park and do the other days inbetween at the hotel just swimming and relaxing.you can easily get through a park in one day. the passes are great to speed things up. you just need to look on the map which rides have the passes and then plan your day around them. the way they work is you get a pass to go back to the ride in like 2 hours and then you dont have to wait so long. i would for sure get her an autograph book and then again look on the map and it will tell the times and places of the charecter showings..the lines will be long but again if you can get the maps first you can kind of plan things out. if you have other questions you can e-mail me at
[email protected]
so i dont take up all the space here.....sorry for the long post
