Pregnancy weight gain
Hi everyone!
I was wondering (to the people who have had kids- obviously! LOL) How much weight did you gain and were you able to get back to pre preggo weight.
I am 3 months pregnant and so far have gained 7lbc. I know im going to gain it in spurts and not at a slow easy pace.
How did you deal with the weight gain?? I would really like advice on this, as I am struggling to wrap my mind around the fact that i HAVE to gain weight for my baby! Most of my life (im26) i have watched what i ate and tried to exercise on a semi regualr basis. NOW im told i need to gain weight! WFT< LOLLOLOL
Any thought/tips/advice is greatly appreicated!
You can view my log: Workout25 if you need insight into my mind- heheh

Unless you are beginning the pregnancy underweight you really don't need to try to gain weight. It will happen and if done correctly it will happen slowly. Mostly you need to be eating fruits and veggies to keep the baby healthy. Also a prenatal vitamin is a must. I gained 20 lbs and got rid of most of it. Still working to get the abs back in shape though.

For one quit stepping on the scale. Eat when your hungry, like you normally do, excercise like you normally do all of this is good for you and the baby. If you aren't starving yourself you'll put on the weight, but you don't need to eat for two like the saying says.
With both my pregnancies I gained less than 10lbs by through my first 7 months. After that point I stopped even keeping track because I had preeclampsia and was swelling up so bad with water retention that I was gaining sometimes 5-10lbs a week. With both pregnancies I was back in my to my pre-pregnancy weight and back in my jeans within 3 months. Both of my pregnancies were during my lazy eat bad don't excercise period so this wasn't anything super hard to accomplish.

I went crazy with eating and giving in to my cravings..Most of them were mental..but I gained about 44lbs...I lost 20 like 2 weeks after and still have 10lbs pounds to go...it's been about a year and I have not been as diligent..The last 10lbs are really hanging on..I don't want to scare you but keep exercsing and eating healthy and you will be fine...

OP here:
Thanks for the comments ladies. I keep telling people that i dont NEED a second helping, im NOT really eating for 2! Friends, and relatives keep trying to shovel food at me like im some starving waif ! LOL
I am still stepping on the scale as a way for me to watch what i eat and not be like a friend who gained about 70 lbs while she was prgeeo. I know its not healthy for me OR baby to do that. I am trying not to care what i gain, just watching the scale when i do gain.
Any pregnancy suggestion/stories are welcome!

Make sure you drink water or some type of liquid. You will need to go to the bathroom, but it's good for you. Also, make sure you take your pre-natal pills daily..I would take mine at night so that I don't throw up...I also would make sure that you stay away from caffeine and yes any type of chemical stuff. Although there is no proven research that a hair dye or nail polish has harmful effets, I would stay away from anything extreme...(smell of bleach etc)

Wow - how did you lose all the weight so quickly? Did you breast feed? I heard that you can burn up to 1000 calories per day breast feeding.

When you are pregnant, should you continue to drink 64oz of water per day? Is tap water OK or should I drink spring water?

Filtered Water
I switched to filtered water several years ago and now when I drink tap water (which is almost never) it tastes gross, like drinking out of a water hose!

I'm 25 weeks pregnant and have gained about 22lbs. Before pregnancy and early in the pregnancy I worked out nearly everyday and ate well. By the 8-9th week, the nausea set in and I was out of commission until about the 16th week. During that time I ate only what I could stomach (fatty fried foods I usually never ate) and hardly had energy to workout. I had every intention of being superhealthy during pregnancy and it was hard for me to go through this. Now I am back in the groove of working out and eating better, and I'm trying hard to embrace the poundage I have gained, but at the end of the day, I just try to make sure that I give the baby the best possible environment to thrive and to try to keep my fitness level up for the labor and delivery.
I'm not sure how much you can really end up 'controlling' the amount of weight you gain because every pregnancy is different. But as long as you are mindful of eating well when you can, and getting some physical activity in when you can, you should hopefully have a wonderful pregnancy.
Best to luck!
