The PT Community is great!

I just want to say that I'm a student of human behavior (not literally, although I did major in Psychology...) and I love the community forum here because it's sooo interesting to see how people react to each other. The controversies, the debates, the annoyances, are all part of our lives, both in the "real world" & on here.

Sorry, I just had to get that out there because while others may get frustrated with the forum, I enjoy keeping up with it (often for the entertainment of my informal "studies"...).

Anyone else feel similarly?

I love the PT community because I feel like it is a place to go and be encouraged. I think I am taking this the wrong way but I get the impression you consider yourself a obsever nott a participant . I sorta feel like you are observing and judging my thoughts for you entertainment. Something is wrong in this picture!

people who just observe don't usually start a thread. that is participating. there are probably those who just "people-watch" though. i don't think you can change that.

OP here

Thanks, 3:54 poster. Yes I do participate fairly often. However, I don't participate in the heated discussions/debates that people on here get caught up with. Instead I observe those (if I feel like it). I'm not judging anyone here & not using you for my entertainment. Trust me, I have better things to do! I think you may have interpreted my use of "entertainment" differently than I intended.

Please accept my utmost apologies if I've offended you in any way, whatsoever.

i find it interesting that shared ideas bring people together. in the real world, it's usually something more tangible that initially brings people together-clothing styles, body piercings, tatooes, similar pets, same taste (no pun intended) in eating establishments, etc. but here, we cannot see each other to select those with whom we think we can find common interests, so it's our opinions and ways of expressing them that draw us closer or push us apart. who knows, i may converse on a thread with someone i would not approach in a different setting-it opens up a world of communication...i guess that is the beauty of the internet, but this is the only site i've ever "blogged" on.

OP again

I'd like to take this post back. Pretend it never happened, people! Nothing to see here!

Apparently, there's a bit of fallout because people have misinterpreted my post. Someone in another thread said it made them sad to see that I'm trying to figure out the human mind. Come on, people! I'm not an experimental psychologist! I'm just another PT'er & I've said all I need to say above. Geez, this forum can get frustrating! Here I am, getting in the middle of the kind of controversy I normally just observe. That's why I never should have opened my big friggin' mouth in the first place.

Again, I apologize if anyone has taken any of this the wrong way! Big brother is not 'watching' you (and if he is, it ain't me!)! ;-)

From now on, keeping my big aforementioned mouth shut...

TO THE OP

gee, i hope you will actually open the thread again and read this ! i think you started a great thread and i really enjoyed your post, as well as most that followed. it may happen to offend someone, but truly the content is not of an offensive nature. we cannot control how others interpret our thoughts, but to discontinue sharing them is not the answer ! i think the sensitive reader just did not understand what was meant and others went out of the way to explain it. now, she/he has continued to take offense (even with an explanation and apology) and post about it elsewhere. this is not your fault-it has nothing to do with your chosen topic or how you expressed yourself. only one person responded that she/he was offended. many others responded with interest. you have profusely apologized. let's continue to hear from you, please!!

there are some topics that come up that i never heard anyone else talk about. this is very helpful for me, because i don't have a lot of close friends and i can still get feedback on very personal (not just to me) issues.

I swear I'm not obsessing about this...OP here again!

11:38 poster, thanks for supporting me! That really meant a lot, actually, because it's been one of those days in "real life" too where I just want to say "okay, I just won't talk anymore then..."

Thanks again! You rock!

Yes, I love it to. Its funny to me how defensive people get even though its an anonymous site. It is certainly entertaining.

To the OP, I agree with you. Human behavior is certainly interesting. I participate in a lot of discussions but I stop once they get to out of control. And I don't mind saying it, in my observations I have come to recognize a lot of different styles of writing and its not to difficult to tell whos writing what. Come on people lighten up.
