Rachael Ray

Has anyone tried to make her stuff? It seems doable but I'm wondering if she makes it look easy on tv. Thanx.

I love Rachel Ray... I make her stuff and so do a lot of people that I know. The steps are usually fairly simple and the ingredients are easy to find at the grocery store... Good luck and happy cooking!

She has a likeable quality about her - I guess that's why she's doing so well. Haven't made any of her meals, but I'm a voyeur of sorts so I still watch.

Is she the one that is going to have a talk show soon? Might not be the right lady?!?

i make her stuff a lot (along w/ giada de laurnetis, and ina garten! i live for the food network! haha!) and it is pretty easy. the only thing though is that many of the meals do take a little more than 30 minutes if you aren't a fast at prepping food! it takes me forever to mince all the garlic, chop and measure veggies, pound chicken etc. she has the benefit on tv of having some things prepped and in the fridge so she can just grab it-the rest of us don't!! haha!

just a tip: find a day when you can carve out a couple of hours to do some prepping. for example, go grocery shopping for the week's meals. take the chicken out of the package and trim and pound it right away. then freeze until ready to thaw & cook. you can do this with many foods. i even go further-take onions and chop and store in air tight container so they are ready when i need them.

yup= same lady

She is going to have a talk show and I think it's great. Not only is she down to earth and unafraid to be goofy, but we have the same body type!
Gotta love narcissism!
lol

my mother wishes her dead. too bad, I love her and have made many of her meals. Basically, if you're not afraid to make a mistake, you'll be fine. Her style of cooking is simple and not 'high strung' like other cooks where you would need to start all over if you didn't get the exact right consistancy of some glaze or something.

But like I said, my mother wishes her dead. her personality isn't for everyone.

Maybe it's because she says things like "yum-o"?

I have to admit that I kind of like her in spite of myself! My husband can't stand her. I have never made an entire meal that's she's done on the show, but I have made a few of her main dishes and sides to go along with something that I have already planned for dinner.

i think her perkiness has been exaggerated by the producers of her show. it is really attractive to seniors and kids and so might bring a different demographic to the show's audience. personally, i can't imagine being around her in person if she is really like that!

Ok-- I'm one of those people who really don't care for the lady... but I have to admit I took a look at her 365 recipie book that my sister owns and it looked pretty good.... then my sister (who doesn't cook) made me one of the meals and it was fantastic!!!!

She's not for everyone, but she's got a gift if she can get my sister to make such a good meal. My overall assessment is that her recipies are down-to-earth (most of them) and are easy to follow and reproduce- which in my opinion are the two most important things when it comes to cookbooks. I think I might even be tempted to get a Rachael Ray cookbook of my own....

Funny, my husband can't stand her perkiness either, but she has some great quick cook ideas. I love the "garbage" bowl idea - I was always stopping to gather little bits of veggie scraps and such to the garbage - why not just throw it all in a bowl on the counter? But - way too much salt for me in the way she cooks, but then that's the same with all those cooks.

i like her alot.... but the way she talks does get old real fast. my boyfriend gets amazingly irritated when she calls a sandwich a "sammy"
her food's good though, and that's what really matters. sometimes i just mute her and read the captions though lol.

My husband can't stand when she says "sammy" or "Yum-O". I like her most of the time, but have never tried her reciepies. I do love her $40 a day show too!

I love Rachael Ray! I have a few of her cookbooks, and have made several of her recipes, with great success. My oldest likes her too, and we've made a few things from the cooking with kids cookbook...he has lots of fun, and we get a good meal when it's over. She is a little "perky" but she's also normal. You can always check out her books through the library, before you spend any money on them.

yeah that's proof alright. proof that people are losers with too much time on their hands. sure it's funny to make fun of someone sometimes-i get that, but the fact that these people consistently watch her show to make fun of her is LAME! Why not watch something you enjoy or better yet, don't watch TV at all? Put your time to better use!!

Rachel makes these buffalo turkey burgers that are awesome. The recpie is:

1 pkg (1.25 lbs) ground turkey
3 green onions, finely chopped
1 stalk celery, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tbsp. grill seasoning
1 tsp. poultry seasoning
buffalo wing sauce

All you do is combine the turkey, green onions, celery, garlic, grill and poultry seasonings. Work it together until everything is well incorporated. Form into 4 patties. Grill or cook in a pan until cooked through. Toss the patties in buffalo wing sauce.

YUM-O

Making Rachels Food

I love to cook and entertain with food. I have several of Rachel’s cookbooks and I have found most her recipes to be very easy to prepare and execute.

I think she is one of the most genuine people on tv and not afraid to look goofy or be silly. And did you know her new word EVOO is going to be in the new dictionary? I was impressed.
I have never made any of her meals but I use a lot of her techniques. Or take ideas from what she does. I tape almost all of her cooking segments. I had never seen her food network shows until a couple of weeks ago when I finally got the channel. Love them.
Can't wait until I can get a few of her cookbooks.
I will admit it took me a while to get past her childish words but if that is her personality so be it. I am sure I have things about me that bug people.

The one that makes me nuts is Paula Dean. Making all that horribly fattening food and then saying because they are so health concious she puts a sprig of mint on something.

awww, but I LOVE Paula Dean!!! She seems so sweet and motherly! I want to sit and drink sweet tea with her! Yes her stuff is insanely bad for you, and actually I haven't made any of her recipes probably for that reason, but she seems like such a warm/kind woman!

Ok. 8:45 here. I will give you that she does seem like a sweet kind person.
And she's got some good lookin' sons. Maybe I need to just be nice and let her be who she is.

You know when I first started watching Rachel Ray I was a bit put off by her ways. Now I just overlook them since she seems so nice.
I don't like all the alcohol ideas though. But I am sure there are plenty of people who drink that appreciate her ideas. I would like to know how to make them non alcoholic. Some of them sound really good.

Commenting on her food, someone I know said it best: "I'd make her recipes once, but probably only once. They are okay but nothing worth repeating given all the options out there"

She's a doll though and I love that she's not rail thin or overweight
