Stress
How do all of you combat stress?
I am job hunting, and gaining weight. I need ideas, workout ideas, and even foods that might help me.
Tue. Sep 12, 10:23pm
i use exercise to combat my stress! it's hard to remember how good it makes you feel when you are feeling overwhelmed/worried but just get yourself outside for 15 minutes (preferably more, but 15 is enough to get you started!) and you will feel better for hours afterwards! yoga is fantastic for that too!

A glass of wine and dinner with the 'girls' is a HUGE stress reliever for me. Getting together and venting/laughing/gossiping/teasing/supporting is a wonderful tonic for a stressful week. If I can't get together with the group - I'll grab a couple friends and go to coffee.
Getting out and going to pilates class is also great. By the time we are through the beginning breathing period I am already feeling much more serene. Somehow doing it in the living room to a dvd doesn't have the same effect as having someone guide you through it though (for me anyway).
Massages are wonderful. Call a massage school and see if they can hook you up with some students who need to get their 'hours' done (free massages).
Take a walk in the evening and just breath in the air. Feel the season change.
Do something for someone else. I find that when I am feeling like my life is a burden it helps to look in on someone else's. Find a volunteer opportunity that only asks for a few hours a week and try it.
Stop watching TV or at least don't eat in front of it. It is an unproductive pastime that may feel semi-indulgent ('I deserve this time') but subconciously makes you more stressed because it does nothing to help you acheive a positive mental outlook and you 'know' that it is a big timesink. if you really want some relaxation time take a long bubble bath.
Exercise is one of the absolute best things you can do. Not only do you feel productive and virtuous for having done it, but your body releases endorphins (feel-good chemicals) that stick with you, and your body also gets a boost from the increased amount of nutrients, oxygen and water delivered by getting your heartrate up.
Remember that 'this too shall pass'

Pray helps me or sitting alone with nature. I live near a beach or I also like to look at trees they often have birds close by. I breathe just breathe say a pray and know it will pass. Call a friend. Go on Peer trainer! You can also writ out your feelings then rip them up and throw them away or jist burn them. You could also have healthy food. Like I love WW shake and popcorn . sometimes if I can afford it I get my nails done or a message. Whatever floats your boat and makes you feel better.
