Red Exerciser
Has anyone tried this? Does it work? I'm looking for something just to flatten my tummy and love handles -- just need a few inches taken off. I got hooked into a dreaded infomercial this morning :)

I'm not sure what you are talking about but I do believe that when it comes to the stomach area, it's all diet. You can do whatever wacky exercises you want but it will never flatten out if you don't clean up your diet and follow a strict plan.

I am the OP and I have been lowering my calories, doing cardio and situps and it has helped me tremendously....Im just trying for that little extra something. You can check out the red exerciser at www.redexerciser.com. I know that a rotary torso machine helps A LOT with love handles, but they are very expensive and take up a lot of room.....so thought this little machine would be perfect -- just for a little bit more. My waist is about 28-29 inches now....so, just need a little bit more to make myself more defined.

looks like yet another "miracle", no-work-required-except-sitting-and-spinning-while-you-watch-tv type of product, designed to attract the most desparate weight-loss seekers. i bet if you take trim spa AND use the red spinning thing you'd really be in good shape...yeah, right.

You can add up to 100lbs of resistance on the RED EXERCISER - in that way it is similar to the very expensive rotary torso that HAS worked for me in the past. What works for you to keep your abs flat and worked to make your love handles disappear?

The Red Exerciser does NOT help you lose weight -- just INCHES. It's not cardio, so of course you won't burn much than if you were just watching TV. That would be PERFECT for me :) Thanks for the link -- I am going to order one!

regular crunches work really well. so do pushups. It is amazing how much stuff we simply do not need. Take the money you would spend on the Red Exerciser, and put it in your kids college saving fund. In fact, that would be a great idea for a team. "Saving Money For College, One Temptation at a Time"-- if you are about to down some fattening treat- stop, and put the money IMMEDIATELY into the fund. That way you create a new incentive for yourself.

Consider taking up swimming - I can't believe how effectively that activity whittled my waist and reduced the rolls of back fat. And it's not like I'm a speed demon or anything. And it burns 500-600 calories an hour!

Pilates would be better as you will not only tone your abs but your whole body and I am sure that doing Pilates would get you quicker results.

A different toy for washboard abs
I saw (and tried out -- yikes!) a completely different kind of "abs" toy this weekend. It has two handles on either side of some wheels -- you roll it forward and stretch all the way out to a full plank, then roll it backwards from there until you are crunched back up with your butt in the air. I do a lot of crunches every day but that is HARD!

Nope, the "ab roller" is something TOTALLY different. Like a frame for sit-ups.
This is called an "ab slide." Looking on line, I see that it is discontinued, but that similar things on Amazon.com are called "ab wheels."
