This is crazy/wild/amazing. How does he do it? Does this prove that the whole "recovery time" thing is a myth??

Is his name Forrest Gump?!
It's one of those things that's neat, I guess, but it's really just a bit ridiculous. It's so over-the-top.
To the 9:33pm poster, you don't have to step up anything! You're doing great!

He is not done yet. I was in the Portland Marathon on the 1st, but never did capture a glimpse at him. He's extremely conditioned, so while most folks would need recovery days, he is able to keep plugging along. I'm sure he's tired and especially as he goes into the last 1/4 of this marathon tour, I'm sure his muscles will be screaming, but his pace of about 3.5 to 4 hrs per marathon, is somewhat leisurely for him. No doubt he could go faster if he pushed himself, but he knows he needs to pace himself to keep up this schedule. and yes, the sponsor money keeps him well funded while he's taking a leave from his job to do this.

I subscribed to his newsletter, and this is part of the email they sent out about his finish:
CONGRATULATIONS DEAN!
On November 10, 2006, world-recognized ultramarathoner and best-selling author, Dean Karnazes, accomplished his quest to run 50 marathons in 50 states in 50 consecutive days.
The North Face Endurance 50, a celebration of endurance and the athletes who push preconceived notions of what is possible, commenced on September 17 at the Lewis and Clark Marathon in St. Charles, Missouri, and finished Sunday, November 5 at the New York City Marathon. Throughout the 50 days, thousands of runners from across the country and around the globe took part in the historic event in which The North Face and Karnazes challenged Americans to achieve their personal best, whether running just a few miles, a half marathon, their first full marathon, or their 20th.

I was really pissed at the television coverage of the New York marathon last week -- 90% of the press coverage went to Lance Armstrong. Yes, he's a world-class athlete and crowd-pleaser...but Dean didn't get a single mention in the two hours I was watching. He deserved at least as much attention as the Arkansas governor who lost 110 lbs and erased diabetes from his life. Hmph.
