EMAIL THREAD
Poll: Do you think usernames should be added to the thread messages in the community?
Or do you prefer it to be anonymous, where you have the option to sign your username if you like.
There are pros and cons to each. Let us know what you think.

Options would be nice.
Maybe the name would be automatically put in, however there would be a checkbox to opt to remain anonymous. That way, people outside their groups can meet and possibly make another group if they're into that.

I vote for anonymous
The above poster got me thinking...I might not want my existing group members to know I was creating more groups. If I wanted someone to know my username, I would just put it in the comment section anyway.

I agree, I like anonymous. People can type their usernames if they want. But I wouldn't want someone in my group to get upset with me if they disagreed with something that I said in the community section, or vice versa. Plus, sometimes people ask embarassing questions, and it's nice to be able to get answers without admitting that you're the one asking!

I think names would be nice. I dont agree with the above post about being afraid someone might get upset if you say something or start a group, I believe we should all feel comfortable and be able to stand for what we believe. I read in a spanish book that those who cant stand behind their thoughts or what they say do not deserve to be heard. It talked about how when anonymous letters got delivered to this boss, he wouldnt even look at them because if they didnt bother to put their name down, he wouldnt bother reading it. just a thought

I vote for both. If people want to put their names down as a practice, they should. And if they want to be able to post something anonymously they should as well.

I like the anonymity
I think that it encourages people to really say what they are worried about or afraid of. If you really want everyone to know what you said, sign it with your username. Optional hiding of your username makes it the "cowards" choice instead of part of the form and fuction of the forum.

I think it would feel more like a community if we knew who we were talking to. I like the idea of having an option though; that way those of us who want to use our screennames can, and those who wish to remain anonymous can.

Options
I don't think we can discount the good parts of being anonymous. Afterall, lots of great quotes come from that "anonymous" guy. But, building a community through using names is a good idea too. I vote for the option.

anonymous?
Be like the well-known www.craigslist.com site. You are automatically anonymous unless you choose to list your name, by checking a box.

Optional
I think optional is good. We'll see then what people like to do. There are definitely benefits to posting anonymously, though... I say make it optional and see how it shakes out.

i vote anonymous. its kinda like voting, sometimes when there is something a little controversial, you don't want everyone to know where you stand. It may offend other group members. If you have it where you have to remove your name then its just more work for the members.
I like it just the way it is.
