Should I be this sore?

Met with a PT for the first time yesterday....today I feel like I was hit by a car. Is it okay to be THIS sore??

Heh, I've been seeing a personal trainer every week for 8 months and I still feel "THIS sore" after most of my sessions.

If any of your muscles are cramping or affecting your ability to function normally for more than a few hours, tell him/her to lighten up on whatever muscle group is causing you problems. I had to do that once.

And...

Some trainers do that on purpose the first visit to prove to you how much you need them. Keep an eye on that. A good butt-kicking that gets you in shape is great, but according to my trainer, you should NEVER be that sore.

The worst soreness I feel is sometimes being pretty stiff sitting and standing from a seated postion, but not pain. And I've lost 8# of body fat in 6 weeks while adding 4# of muscle, so I'm sure that I'm working hard enough.

my personal measure of how much is TOO sore - if i'm sore about 24 hours it's okay. this means if you work out every other day you feel fine each time. if i'm sore after 2 days out, i worked too hard. i went to a yoga class and was sore for about 5 days afterwards. the worst was that it didn't hurt while i was doing it, so i had no way to guage how hard i was working myself.
