fish in mercury

Anyone have a website recommendation for the levels of mercury and which fish is high/low. Also, is there mercury in other foods besides fish? TIA.

try one of the parenting magazines or ask your obgyn...mercury is very bad for women who can get pregnant or are pregnant b/c it harms the developement of the child.

msn.com may even have some info in their health section

There are some earlier threads about this

There are some earlier threads about this if you type "fish" in to the search bar at top. One can be found here:

Here is a post from that thread which has links (I suggest you type "mercury content fish" or some variation on that into Google and see what you come up with.
It is primarily a concern for pregnant mothers and very young children because mercury affects the development of the brain. For anyone not in these categories, the benefits of Omega 3 & 6 from certain types of fatty fish far outweigh the small mercury content, from what I've read.

This is direct result of pollution, by the way. Evenually all the toxins we've released into the environment are working it's way into the food chain.

A doctor's discussion of the issue (this is very good) with additional warnings that FDA guidelines are not strong enough (there is evidence they have been influenced by the tuna industry)

So that should give you a lot of info!
