Can I drop some weight in one week?!?!?!

OK so I need some help. I am in a wedding one week from today and my dress was way too big. I had it altered and when I got it back 2 days later the person accidently took out WAY too much and it won't zip... HELP! She already cut out the extra fabric and there is no way I can get a new dress in time....
I know it's not healthy but I need to lose some weight this week to make it even a little better. It's just for one week and I'm willing to do anything so if anyone has suggestions that work I am all ears! Thanks!

It seems like the person who took out way too much owes you another dress.

As for rapid weight loss, how much do you need to loose?

Cut out carbs. Drink tons of water. Maybe look in to South Beach. I know that people who follow that plan lose ridiculous amounts of weight in the first week. Stay away from salt.

buy one of those slimming undergarments to help suck in the problem areas, really helps get the zipper up!

I did this a few weeks ago. I had to wear a dress, and it was ridiculously tight and uncomfortable, and I only had two days. For those 2 days, I did not eat salt, and I drank a lot of water and tea. Not tons, but more than usual, enough to flush me out. I stuck to fruits and veggies and meats w/o sauces, no salad dressing, no ketchup, no diet soda, and nothing out of a box. It worked - the dress fit great!

I wouldn't advise doing this for much more than those 2 days, so in addition to being really good this week, start that diet 2 days before the wedding. You need electrolytes, so it's not healthy to do this for too long. It was hard, but well worth it!!

steamed salmon and boiled chicken and veggies and that's it. If you go vegan for a week, you'll also be amazed.

Above poster, not sure where the vegan comment is coming from, but here is my perspective:

Veganism is a lifestyle choice, not a weight-loss method. You can chose to go vegan for moral, environmental or health reasons, but I don't feel it should be done for a quickie weight-loss fix.

I have been vegan for about 8 years. Though I always ate healthfully, I actually gained 15-20 pounds during the first two years because I ended up eating a lot of carbs.

Bottom line: whether you eat meat and animal products or not, you need a balanced diet with whole grains, veggies, fruits, lean protein and fats.

come on...one can choose to "go vegan" for a week if it helps that person to lose some weight, even temporarily...
just like giving up alcohol for a week does not require attendance at AA, one can choose any "diet" for any reason for any length of time, without having to commit to a lifestyle...good luck, op!

I lost 9 pounds in four days (twice) when I went on a detox. Only animal proteins (eggs, steak, turkey, shrimp, etc) and fresh, raw, green vegis (green peppers, spinach leaves, cucumbers, zuchini, celery, broccoli). And lots, and LOTS of water. I only did it for two days though. I also heard that hot lemon water gets rid of the bloat and extra water weight.

this is by no means a long term fix...... but for quick results saran wrap yourself when you go to bed.... for optimum results wear sweat clothes over the top.

i lost 5 pounds in a week on phase 1 of south beach. i couldn't keep it up longer than that, but if you only want to do it for a week anyway it's worth looking into.

or you could go hang out at a day care or pediatrician's office, pick up whatever bug those kids are passing around, and also lose 5 pounds in a week too. you probably wouldn't feel up to going to the wedding though!

is it just me, or does anyone else think the saran wrap idea is really weird and not advisable?

OP here

Update: my mom worked a miracle on the dress and was able to let out each seam individually and gained about 1.5 inches. So the dress fits GREAT and I'm so happy!
Thank you to everyone though, we all know some good ways to "crash" diet for a week in a similar situaltion! I have been watching my portions a lot this week anyway, want to look my best! Thanks again!

i for one am relieved that your mother was able to work her magic on the dress so that you did not have to compromise your health in any way-even for a short time! be sure to send a bill for your mom's time to the dress tailor who messed it all up!! have a rockin' time at the wedding!
