Sore nipples
My nipples are so sore that even putting on a bra is hurting me. I'm not on any kind of hormones nor am I taking any kind of meds. Any ideas? They seem to be very sensitive all of a sudden. OUCH!!!
Fri. Jun 23, 10:55pm
I"ve never experienced it, but I remember reading that some people experience soreness shortly before or during their period. Maybe that's the problem? You might try calling a nurse hotline and asking.
Friday, June 23, 2006, 11:01 PM
Are you SURE you aren't pregnant? That is one of the first things most women notice.
On a whole different continum: If you're exercising more, your bra might be irritating your nipples and causing too much friction. Try different ones for a few days.
Friday, June 23, 2006, 11:18 PM
This is exactly what happen to me when I was pregnant.
Friday, June 23, 2006, 11:38 PM
This happened to me when I got off Depo-Provera and again when I got off the patch. It possibly is hormones and seems to be related to increased amounts of estrogen. And it is a classic sign of pregnancy - my doctor tested me several times since it took months for it to subside.
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 3:56 AM
Yeah I too have this. Has a lot to do with birth control I think. I'm for sure not pregnant either.
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 3:53 PM
Are you doing any kind of high-impact exercise that might cause rubbing against the fabric of your bra or shirt or whatever? That could cause heightened sensitivity & soreness (it's a problem some runners have).
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 5:10 PM
Hi, I'm the OP. I'm sure I'm not pregnant but I have been playing tennis lately for hours at a time and sweating a lot. This could be it. Everyone has me nervous about the pregnancy thing. I have a home pregnancy test, I'll do it in the morning. Otherwise, I will try a different bra.
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 8:07 PM
I dont think it has anything to do with someone's bra personally. I often workout without a bra or frankly anything on. I think its more of a time of the month kinda thing. Additionally if your husband/bf gets a bit to rough you can feel it a few days after it occurs.
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 8:11 PM
I used to have this happen to me and it was hormones. I started taking evening primrose and it went away.
Saturday, June 24, 2006, 10:48 PM
If you're playing tennis alot, try buying some "bodyglide" and "lubricating" the nipples with it. It will reduced the chafing and friction and should help to stop it from being as irritated.
Another thing is a green box of what's called "bag balm" used on cow's udders & teats to relieve irritation and cracked nipples... It's kind of like a rather thick grease, but it contains an antiseptic ointment. I use it in the wintertime on cracked fingers (from doing ceramics and the dryness of the cold weather.) You could probably put it at night so that it doesn't get too greasy and it should help!

(OP)
Thanks, sometimes my breast feel like a cow's udders so I will consider this. My hubby thinks it's my cycle about to start. I think it's a combo of everything: hormonal changes (I'm 38-maybe perimenopause), time for my period (1 week away) and my husband's loving. I just know that this hasn't happened before.
Sunday, June 25, 2006, 7:04 PM
I get this the week before my period. I didn't used to. It doesn't happen every time, but it's getting more and more often. I'm only 23 though. It hurts!!!
Monday, June 26, 2006, 12:09 PM
if the lube doesn't work try putting a bandaid over your nipples. I used to do a lot of running and this was the only thing that worked for me. The med square patches work best (like knuckle or finger tip size) because they are less likely to rub off when you sweat.
Monday, June 26, 2006, 12:10 PM
if the lubes posted aboove dont work try PureLanolin for breast feeding mothers. Works wonders for sore cracked nipples.
Monday, June 26, 2006, 4:43 PM
I had this & went to the doc. My hormones were in the normal range. I had finished breastfeeding my baby a year before this happened, but my good friend was pregnant & I wanted to have another (husband didn't) so I had like a "false pregnancy." I got to the point where I started lactating again. My doc said he could put me on male hormones to combat this (no thanks). I asked if it was dangerous to my health in any way & he said no, so I just let it run its course & eventually I returned to normal. It's amazing what the mind can do!

It was my cycle.

interesting thread.
Monday, July 23, 2007, 11:33 AM
me too!
Thursday, August 23, 2007, 11:04 AM
very interesting! I know you said it was cycle related, but I just want to add that you should make sure you have a fresh clean bra. I know that for me my skin gets really irritated if I wear a bra that is sweaty.
Thursday, August 23, 2007, 11:44 AM
I have this problem whenever it is cold (started when I got pregnant with my first). I solve the dilemma by wearing a regular bra (super supportive) and then wear a compression type exercise bra on top. You would think you would be smooshed, but that doesn't happen. It also reduces the jiggles. But it saves me from the "nippie" cold (even if that is just the morning cool. I am pretty sensitive there!).
Thursday, August 23, 2007, 4:57 PM
Mine have been particularly sore recently also but have just restarted on Yasmin contraceptive pill after a long time off. I'm hoping it's just a hormone imbalance, but all this talk of pregnancy is very concerning! Not a chance but I feel like I should be off down the chemist just to be sure!

Nipples
Same - im also on Yasmin, and have been for nearly a year. My nipples have been so sore the last few days. I squeezed my left nipple really hard and this goo like substance came out, i freaked and thought it was milk, went down and got a preg test and it was negative - Im still worried though! tell me its just hormones!

Sore nipples
My nipples were very sore while I was nursing little Stevie.....I found great relief with Mommy's Bliss Nipple Cream! You can find this wonderful natural product at www.blissbymom.com

Sore Nipples TOO
I am convinced after taking a pregnancy test today (negative) and reading this stream of posts that the reason my nipples have been sore is because I recently stopped the Nuva Ring (Birth Control)... Hormones...

One Nipple
Just one of my nipples is sore - its actually been sore for a couple days now - no sex. no birth control and just got off the ol' period about Thursday of last week; but the thing (my nipple) is actually all tight - it won't relax - I think thats what is causing the pain, but what is causing its constant pencil eraser status? And just one breast? Any ideas ladies?

my nipples are sore!
my nipples have been sore for the past week almost. i have got the implant which is a form of contraception which is 99.9% affective so theres a little chance of me being pregnant and i hardly have periods due to the implant so it cant be due to an oncoming period. why are they sore? is it just my body changing?
Thursday, January 3, 2008, 3:56 PM
same, same...
I feel flushed and am cramping slightly and my nipples are sore (the left one more than the right), I am having mild headaches. This has een going on for 4 days now. I am not due to start my period for another 12 days. My last cylcle starting on the 17th and is always regualr. I got off birth control almost 8 months ago.. Could my body just be reacting to a new hormonal change? I feel as if i was not ovulating for the last 8 or so months and I know for sure i am ovulating this week, i have the mucos stuff.... I doubt I am pregnant. we have tried for a baby and gave up due to the fact that it devestated me every month I would get my period. Could this all be in my mind? I mean really? Can you give yourself all these symptoms at once, without thinking about them? Someone help!
Thursday, March 6, 2008, 4:45 PM
I'd go with the pregnant thing..

SORE NIPPLES and mastitis, I have had it all. Nursed all my children, stopped nursing 3 years ago, and still am lactating. Crazy.
Your nipple can easily get injured. Extreme cold temps (yes I know someone who got frost bite there), bad bras, sweat and exercize, tough loving, baby teething...Just to name a few. Tender nipples result, and sometimes always seem erect, even under your bra.
Hormone changes can make the entire breast tender.
There are other issues most women don't talk about. Infections. Mastitis is hard to miss, but it masks itself like the flu along with nipple and breast pain. You can get an infected or clogged duct in the gland. It feels like a soft round lump that can be manipulated or moved. Sometimes you can see a red inflamation of the blood vessels in a certain area of the breast.
Fibrous tissue in the breast also can create breast pain. Those people who are prone to fibrous tissue (lumps) have to keep up with their self exams. My sister had to have some removed because it would cause pain.
I have found that my GYN doesn't have time to really talk about these issues. Now I have a woman GP and she is more eager to talk about my female concerns. The best consultant about breast issues was the lactation specialist at the local hospital. She seemed to know the answer to everything and didn't make me feel rushed. She even had a list of homeopic remedies to help sore nipples.
Ladies- If you have any concern about the health of your breast or nipples, call your dr., or call the local hospital and ask for a lactation nurse. At least someone who knows more can give you advise and guidance.
People just tell us to wear a bra when we run and get a mamogram after 40. That is not BREAST HEALTH! That directive came from a man, one who will never leak from the breast when a baby cries!
Saturday, March 8, 2008, 8:06 PM
You're most likely just chaffing your nipples. Try putting some vaseline at night before bed...and try a different sports bra. I use Shock Absorber. I got them from HBC...not sure if they have that store where you live.
www.shockabsorber.co.uk/
Link to official website...this bra is the best thing that I've ever bought. I will NEVER buy anything but this type.
I hope that you'll be able to find them near you.
**they're not the type of bra that you'd want your new boyfriend to see though...not the sexiest thing ever but they work!

ANOTHER NUVARING EX-USER with SORE NIPPLES
Glad I found this thread. I also just got off the Nuvaring--three weeks ago, about to have my period I guess, and my nipples have been extremely sensitive and sore for at least a week! I'm 31, been on contraceptives of some kind since 18, and I've never had this as a premenstrual symptom before now, so I wonder if this is temporary until I adjust to being free of extra hormones. I have had premenstrual breast tenderness but this is so very different and very "point" specific to the nipple. FYI, I had to get off the ring after 4 months of excruciating lower back pain that lasted for days and days. Never felt anything like that before. I hobbled around like an arthritic elderly woman, and 4 months was long enough to try to acclimate.

please help
My nipples are soo sore (just my nipples not my whole breast) im nauseas, exhausted, and super irritable and emotional plus i have heart burn. Im not due to get my period for another three days, but I took a 5 day early pregnancy test and it came out negative. Could it still be too early if I only got pregnant 10 or 11 days ago? I know they say you can get a false negative if you take it any time before fourteen days after conception, is this true even if your period is due within the next few days?
Saturday, March 22, 2008, 2:17 AM
2:17 - that is true. Some women will have enough of the pregnancy hormone to get a positive result before their period would've come, others won't see a positive untili that 14 days or later. Hope you get the result you want!

HELP!
I take my birth control exactly the same time every day. I never miss one EVER. I hardly have sex, and the birth control has made me have no periods. But my breasts and nipples have been starting to hurt lately. I took a pt but it came back negative. I feel more like my body needs a period. Does anyone think this is just hormonal? I need help!

Sore nipples too
've been searching for a reason why my nipples are sore today. They usually aren't so. I recently stopped taking my pills because I messed up and missed too many in a row...I decided to wait for my next cycle and start that Sunday. I have been on the pill for 7 years. I am a little nervous that I may be pregnant but I don't want to jump to conclusions. I have lost track of time so I am not sure when I am supposed to get it. I think it may be this week. What do you think? Am I pregnant? Am I PMS'ing, or is my period delayed because I stopped the pill this month? Anybody????

I have been experiencing the same problem. I am not on any birth control and havent been having any sex lately. I do have a son that is 15 months today, so I thought maybe it is a hormonal imbalance. It is so sensitive to the touch and hurts bad even when water runs across it. Can anyone give any suggestions?

I hate being female
I am 23 years old. I am not on birth control and I am not pregnant nor have I had any children. About a week before my periods my breasts become so sore it hurts to move at all. Putting a bra on is a diffrent story, it brings tears to my eyes. I've told my PCP and my GYN this and they both have no idea why they hurt so bad. I am on a completely normal cycle so my hormone levels are fine. The only thing I can come up with is I am on thyroid meds and your thyroid gland can mess with your levels. So maybe its just my meds affecting me? Even though my levels are normal. We have tried birth control in the past to see if it helps, we've tried a few diffrent kinds with diffrent supplements and stuff, and NOTHING works. Its horrible. Im so young, I would HATE to have this until menopause. Does anyone have any idea's for anything I can put on them to make them feel better?
Sunday, August 10, 2008, 11:42 AM
Caffeine is the culprit!
At one point it was so bad for me that 10 days before my period I couldn't even sleep with a sheet. My nurse practitioner told me it was probably too much caffeine. I was in grad school at the time and drinking a ton of coffee, tea and diet coke. I went off the caffeine (was total hell for 2 weeks) but they quit hurting. Now I'm back to coffee....

extremely sore breasts and nipples...almost ALL the tme!!! HELP!!!
Hi everyone =) My name is Bridget and I'm 22 years old, I was on the pill for 3 years or so and stopped taking it about a year ago. I'm not sure how long I've been experiencing this problem,(so I'm not sure if I've always had this problem and the pill helped, or if this just started recently) but for a long time now, both my breasts and nipples, have been extremely sore. I have my good days and bad but it seems to be constant. Sometimes they are just sore to the touch, sometimes they hurt so bad I can feel the pain throbbing without even touching them. They hurt just by something brushing against them, getting changed, laying down, etc. Even a gentle touch is bothersome to the point where I hardly even let my boyfriend touch them.(which he doesn't like very much lol but he understands) It does seem to be a little worse before and during my period and I've also noticed a small ?bump? that almost feels like a ball that I can grab and move around, about the size of a peanut, at the edge of my right breast near my armpit. Sometimes, especially around my period it gets sore and seems to swell a little bit. I went to the gynecologist and she said it was normal just a "ridge" that I'll be able to feel more around my period, that it's no big deal, not to worry about it...although, she didn't look to interested in helping me out! =( So I'm not sure if that can be a problem..I also take pain medication, because I recently hurt my lower back which causes constant pain that is terrible so I was wondering if maybe the pills or pain may be a factor??(just in case u were wondering I didn't get hurt by falling or a way I could have injured my chest...if that's possible lol) I also love coffee but I get my lazy days where I don't want to make it and they still hurt the same wether I drink it or not. I've never been pregnant and I'm pretty sure I'm not, is there any advice you guys can give me??? I greatly appreciate it and sorry it's so0o0o0oo long lol btw great thread!! I can't beleive how many women are having the same problem as me, and I also can't beleive this thread was started over 2 years ago!! Hopefully someone can help me out!! Thanks in adavnce and have a great day!!! =)

nipples
hey girls. i hope you can help me plllllllleaaaaaaaaaaassseee.
for the past week i have noticed that my nipples are SOOO sore. they ALWAYs get sore right before i start my period, but this time its like 100% worse. i cant even touch the tips of them because it makes me cringe so bad!!!! i was supposed to start my period yesterday but i didnt. i have that "girl's intuition" that i feel like im about to start but its a feeling like no other....like im ABOUT to start but it just wont come. :(( im scared.
please help with some kind of advice im 18 and i have no one to talk to about this and i need help. thank you so much
Monday, January 5, 2009, 3:03 AM
I'm sure it'll come in the next couple days. If it's off by a couple days, no big deal. Periods can be irregular. In fact, 2 years ago, when I was 20, for several months, my period suddenly became very irregular and when I had my first gyno appointment, she told me it's nothing...just something about how I'm not ovulating or whatever. Then, it got back to normal. If you're really worried and your period doesn't come, then see your doctor...and I'm sure you can talk to your mom or friends, right? Embarrassing, but they may tell you they've had the same problem.
Monday, January 5, 2009, 3:11 AM
yeahhh its just hard because she's nervous that im sexually active, and she would flip in a heartbeat if she knew i was. so yeahh its kinda a tough situation. :(
but thank you sooooo much for the advice and hopefully everything will work out good.
Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 1:01 AM
Oh okay...well I didn't know you are sexually active...but hopefully your period will come or its just late/irregular. This is coming from a 22 year old who is not sexually experienced, but please please be careful...use birth control at least. I know many girls around our ages who are pregnant or who have babies...and I don't want to see you (even though I don't know you) be in the same situation or have a pregnancy scare (or STDs). Good luck and let me know your outcome (if you want).

sore nipples...ouch
I was on the pill for about 5 yrs. In dec i had went away for a few days and forgot to take my pills away with me (in my first week of pack) I had taken sun and mon....went away tues-fri. I had sex that wed. For the last 4-5 days my nipples have been so sore. I desided to wait till i get my period again to start a new pack of pills. I took a pregnacy test and it came up negative. Is there still a chance i could b pregnant or is it a reaction from stopping the pill????. Please help......Im soooooo worried
Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 4:08 AM

Tuesday, January 6, 2009, 4:11 AM

sore nipples, on Implanon
I have had an implanon in my arm for a little over a year and suddenly my nipples are sore. I'm also sexually active. It isn't an irritated, chaffed kind of sore but just when I put pressure on my boobs. It's not very strong pain so I'm not THAT concerned but the implanon causes me to have no period so it's hard... any advice?
Saturday, January 10, 2009, 12:43 AM
thank you for your advice and yeahhh theres not many people i can talk to so u were a good friend lol (even tho i dont know u either) but i started my period yesterday sooooo hopefully that means good things. im not sure yet tho. my mom and aunt all had their period 6 months into their pregnancy. it never stopped so i dunno yet.
also i have another question for anyone.
i have been very curious about this. me and my boyfriend have sex frequently. im not on birth control anymore but we still use a condom. but he never puts it on until he starts to get close. he's been tested so its not std's i worried about i just didnt know if its possible to get pregnant. we are very cautious its just that we go without a condom and then when he feels like he gets about 5 min. away, we put a condom on. should i stop that? could i get pregnant or does anything like that even come out of him?? neither of us know? help pleaseeee :
)

Sore nipples also.
I am 23 and a fresh newly wed. I just came off my period about a week ago. And for the past 3 days my nipples have been sore. I've read that some have this feeling before their period and I've never felt this. I didn't know if it was common to have it before your period or does it matter? I don't think I am pregnant. Because it's not possible to have your period and still be pregnant, right? Just very unsure. Haven't been able to go to the doctor yet....but had access to the net and seen this blog....any ideas?
Monday, January 19, 2009, 3:03 AM
RE: sore nipples also...
it is very very common for you boobs and nipples to be sore before your period. it just depends on the extent of the pain...
i have NEVER had a week before my period where they didnt hurt. but yesss. it is possible to be pregnant and still have your period.
my mom and one of her friends and both of my aunts all had their periods for atleast 4 months into their pregnancy it is quite common but a lot of people dont know about it.
sometimes if you are pregnant it might be a day or two late and it starts about normal flow and then a VERY VERY light flow. and you get sickness right away. and its not just morning, more like all day sickness. and you cramp a lot lol.
hope i was some help. good luck and congrats on ur marriage!!!! :D

re: CONDOMS
Hi, Yes, when your boyfriend gets aroused, he gets wet, just like you do, and the pre-ejacluation that comes out even before you have sex--- contains sperm, when he is having sex with you---he pre-ejaculates, and you can get pregnant from that,...so putting on the condom at the last minute before blast off is in fact, TOO LATE. I hope this helps..
:)
Saturday, January 24, 2009, 3:53 AM
I used to have it when I was pregnant.

Trying to conceive
About one month ago my doc put my on low dosage hormones to regulate me. And hofully trigure ovulation. I *think* I ovulated. So we had sex and now one week after*ovulation* my nipples are sore and a little something came out when I squeeze my nipple. I have NEVER experienced sore breasts or nipples and I am 27 years old. What do y'all think? I should start my period in the next 5 or 6 days.

Breast/Nipple Pain
Please, Please stop squeezing your nipples to see if they are oozing. If they are cracked and swollen to that extent, you need to see a doctor. The skin of the breast and nipple is very sensitive and you will do more harm than good by applying harsh and unnecessary pressure. If you're not pregnant and lactating which would justify a discharge then please let your doctor do this if it is even necessary.
First rule of thumb is don't panic. The Internet gives us free reign to research and we have plenty of qualified doctors at our disposal to see once we have armed ourselves with information.
If you are still of menstruation age and you are not pregnant, you most likely have sore nipples and/or breast due to ovulation or PMS. It's VERY common. It may be monthly or sporadic. It can also happen to post-menopausal women as well, though probably not as frequently. There are of course other health issues that can cause breast and nipple pain, so you have to look at other symptoms to get an idea of what is happening with your body and whether or not it warrants a visit to the doctor.
See some of these resources below maybe they will be helpful. Google is a good resource, try looking up more info at some medical reference sites. The Mayo Clinic website is the most informative as it outlines the two distinct types of breast pain and their causes, symptoms, treatment, etc.

Sore nipples? Me too!!
I too am suffering from severe sore nipples that is why I was trying to find out the problem. I just got off of the Nuva Ring so I guess that is what is causing it. Good to know that more than likely, I am not pregnant. I am glad that so many people have shared their comments.

I have sore nipples
For the past 4 days now i have sore nipples, i have read the comments below that could suggest that i could be pregnant but i did take a pregnancy test about 2weeks ago which was negative. Plus im not sure when my period is due as i was on the pill for 7 years and just came off a month ago. So any ideas?

sore nipples
I also just got off of Depo-provera about 2 weeks ago and started back on the birth control pills. I know for me and my boyfriend, we have been together for 4 years. With that, we stopped using condoms when I was on Depo. However, right after I changed to the pills, we continued to have sex without a condom. Now my nipples are really sore. They're starting to feel somewhat better, but they still hurt if you touch them. I've been on Depo for 2 1/2 years now and have been okay. However, I'm not quite sure that it's okay to have sex without a condom while on the pills. Maybe the soreness might be the switching of hormones. Before we only get a shot every 12 weeks, now it's a pill everyday.....I hope I'm not pregnant either.

nipple soreness
so glad to hear that nipple soreness could be attributed to going off birth control. I went off in early sept. (after 11 years) and the nipple soreness seems to be during ovulation. hard, amazingly tender nipples are no fun. I wear a bra 24/7 because I can't stand having anything rub against them. I am hoping this will go away. It's awful. Like the pain you get when first nursing.

RE: Sore Nipples
You should get off of the depo as soon as possible. The depo is supposed to stop your period completly from coming down. If you are spotting then you need to stop the depo and go see your GYN. Also for your health and safety i recommend that you stop taking the depo shot completly. If you take the depo you are at higher risk of getting cancer within 5yrs of taking the shot.
I hope all goes well! :D

Everyone - try GLA from borage oil to help with breast pain
It's not specifically for nipple pain but general breast pain/swelling...I take one borage oil pill (1000mg) and the breast swelling I had on the sides is gone.
Evening primrose oil does not have nearly as much GLA as borage oil...and we need that.
So to all the women having some breast pain, it's worth trying.

sore nipples
I am 23 as well and may be in the same boat as you. I got off my period Jan 3. A little over a week went by and my nipples began to hurt. It is now Jan 21, and I am still experiencing this. Also my breasts have become larger. The only thing I can think of for myself and you maybe as well, is pregnancy. I took a test today that was negative. I am going to try another one a little closer to my period due date. I don't have any other ideas. Can anyone help?

Sore Nipples
To 18yr old (is this possible) if your nipples are sore and your breasts feel heavier and look bigger you may be pregnant. That's what was the cause of my first experience w/sore nipples. But on the other hand there may be another reason. I know some people experience nipple pain before their menstrual cycle. I never did until about 2 years ago. I started getting sore nipples and cramping at least 2 weeks before my period. I've never asked the doctor about it. I'm sure I should. Even though away right before my cycle starts it's painful and very annoying.

sore nipples
first of all i just got off birth control about 2 weeks ago after a year of being on it . i was taking yaz. My nipples are sore to where i can always feel how sore they are but its not excruciatingly painful. i have had post ovulation pains in my breasts before and it is worse than what i am feeling now. I am only 18 and yes i have had sex since i stopped taking the pill, but even before i stopped taking the pill i used condoms. i would LOVE to believe it is just the imbalance of hormones after taking the pill but i am scared of being pregnant. My stomach has not been agreeing with many foods lately, this could not be because im pregnant is it?!?!

sore nipples and tender breast
i am experiencing major soreness in my breasts and nipples. i have 2 weeks left before my period and no other signs of cramping or whatnot. My husband and i are not nessesarily trying to get pregnant but we are not being very carefull either. Although my doctor believes i shouldnt stop taking birthcontrol until i am forsure ready to try, she did change my birthcontrol to a low dose a few months ago. I have been on several birthcontrols before and I honestly have not ever experienced this pain. They are swollen and feel heavy...my nipples are very hard all the time like for 3 days straight now and they are sore to the touch???? Please if anyone has any answers please let me know.......And let me add...... i took a home pegnancy test 2 days ago due to me waking up at 6AM and feeling like i was going to be sick.....it said Negative, so i dont no what to think??? is it stupid for me to even consider the possibility of pregnancy since i am taking a pill??? Although i was on a Antibiotic last month. Hummmm what do you think?
Saturday, May 1, 2010, 9:54 AM

Sore nipples
It really annoys me when people say things like "are you sure you aren't pregnant??!!". It just scares people, especially when the person with the sore nipples may know that there is no way they can be pregnant. While sore nipples may well be one of the first signs of pregnancy, it's also an incredibly common symptom just before one's period - I'm 23 and I get it every so often and sometimes it's unbearable. Obviously it also could be to do with sport or simply wearing an ill-fitting bra - I've had that too. But all I can say is that when I first had sore nipples and looked online for reassurance, I was made so panicked by comments about pregnancy that I took 5 pregnancy tests and couldn't concentrate, which in turn made my period even later. I was even more worried because I'd never had this symptom before, which made me feel very sick as well, and I started imagining I had all sorts of pregnancy symptoms too - imagination is a very powerful thing.
So girls, if you know you're not pregnant then you're not, simple as that. Periods are strange and you don't get the same symptoms every time - friends of mine are still finding that their bodies react differently every month and sometimes this is due to stress, changes to routine, even things like changes in the weather and drinking too much caffeine! Try to relax and think clearly, and more often than not your period will come.

thats one sign of being pregnant. or something is wrong with the fabric of the bra or clothes that you were previously wearing that made your nipples irritated and sore.

I just got off my period last week so idt im pregnant (god help me) Idk why my bc would just now be causing this, but science has weird ways of working.... if u have any ideas please let me know. thanks =)

Sore Nipples
I'm 40, been suffering worsening PMT (irritability, fatigue, bloatedness etc) for the last 3-4 years now, including VERY SORE NIPPLES.
My Dr told me "well, there's nothing we can do, try anti-depressants, its that, or a hysterectomy" - (great dr, eh?!)
Last month in total desperation, I went to a REFLEXOLOGIST. I've had 4 once a week treatments now, and I'm about 5 days or so away from my period: NO SORE NIPPLES - NO RAGE - NO IRRITABILITY - NOTHING!!!
I'm over the moon this has worked for me, as I was really reaching the end of my tether with the whole PMT thing. It was affecting my whole life - work, family life, etc.
GET REFLEXOLOGY FOR SORE NIPPLES. IT'S HORMONE RELATED, GIRLS!

sore nipples
thank god I found this post!
I took the pill for the last 10 years and stopped just last month. why? because while I had a cat scan done for something else, they found a tumor in my liver. I am still getting a second opinion, but it most probably was caused by the hormone therapy of the pill. As it turns out and I was completely unaware of that, a lot of women have this "good" tumors in their livers. Obviously the first thing I was told to do, is get of the pill and stop taking all these hormones. Now since I am off I have now and then extreme mood swings and constant sore nipples.
i am a 100% sure that I am not pregnant, so I also figure that this has something to do with the stop of hormones and the approaching of the period.

I recently got off the nuva ring and I'm so scared of pregnancy for so many reasons.... but anyway two things I wanted to know...1. Could my nipples being sore and hard be related to the nuva ring? I've only been off of it for like three weeks... could I be pregnant? How long after u get off te ring does it take for u to possibly conseve? Help! I do not want my ego to be prego!

I don't know if I'm pregnant or not
I know about a week ago my nipples started to getting really sore. But now its been three weeks my nipples still feels sensitive. But since my nipples started to feel that way my body started to feel different. Sometimes when I get up or stand up it feels like my legs getting weak like I'm about to faint.
Is that a sign a pregnance or no?

Extremely sore nipple
the past few days I have gotten a VERY extremely sore nipple. It doesnt happen to both. Just one. And is feels like someone is stcking a sharp hot opbject right through it! It happens when I get a chill. I had this happen once before years ago. It happened once, and i thought i was going to have to go to the hospital it hurt SO bad! And it has once again returned. It is so painful that I dont know if the words i used really explain it. I doubt I am pregnant. My husband and I have been trying for 11 years. And no luck. I have however just changed my birthcontrol pill and havent been taking it regularly. I am not taking them for birth control reasons but for regulating my period. ANYONE out there have any ideas what could be going on with me??? It is kind of scary and I am afraid to go to the doctors.

Nuvaring definitely causing my sore nipples.
Thought I would add my two cents. I have been on nuvaring for 3 years, and every 6 months or so I take a month off (my doctor said it was perfectly safe, and I just like to have a natural cycle every once in a while).
Anyway, the last 4 times I have done this, 2 weeks after my period ends I get incredibly hard, sore, nipples. I never have more than a month off the nuvaring so I don't know how long this would last, but within a week of being back on the contraception, the pain goes away.
I came on to see if it could be any other reason, but glad to see that my observation seems correct.
By the way, I would recommend nuvaring to anyone who has trouble controlling their cycle. I tried EVERYTHING (pills, implanon, injection) and this is the only thing that gives me anything resembling regularity. I couldn't be happier with the nuvaring (sore nipples aside :D). Sore nipples are a small price to pay when the alternative is 2 month periods and endless spotting!

sore nipples, Depo Shot
I too have suffered with extremely sore nipples for about two weeks. Trying to sleep was the most difficult. Everything hurt. My lower back was also achy. I thought I had strained my back. Then, after the two weeks I started a full blown period. This is my first period in over 8 years being on the Depo Shot. My last shot was Jan 2011, and now Jan 2012 my period has returned.
The Depo Shot has a Black Box Warning now concerning SIGNIFICANT bone calcium depletion. In the last year I have had 6 fractures!!!!!!!! The bone density tests say that I am pre-osteoperosis, and I'm just 34. The Depo Shot is bad news, don't do it. No one ever told me that one shouldn't be on it more than 2 years. I'm just happy to see my body getting back to "normal".

I also have sore nipples
Its been going on for quite some time now. It happens all the time. Gets a little worse with sex. I have not taken birth control for a while. Frankly I forget to for a few days and then just stop for about a month or so. I am definitely not pregnant nor am I about to start my period. At least I don't think so. Mine are always irregular. They have been for about 4 years now. The soreness didn't start happening until about 2 years ago. I haven't gone to a doctor because it never really bothered me. But seeming as how I love to have them played with (sorry a little tmi but just trying to get my point across) it's been bothering me alot more. Its kind of a mood killer. Not to mention irritating. I just want to know what's up. I've read everything you guys have said but I just don't think any of that is the problem.
Excercising I do in nothing but panties
Birth control doesn't change the pain
Not pregnant
Change my bra daily
What else could be doing this????
Any help??

Sore Nipples & Heavy Swollen Breasts
My husband and I recently got married and I have yet to start using some form of birth control (however we try to be very careful). My period should start around the 15th of this month which is in approximately two weeks. However, I am very concerned. My breasts feel much fuller and heavier than they normally do. Also my nipples are staying semi-firm and are EXTREMELY sensitive. Does anyone have any ideas as to what could cause this?
Wednesday, February 1, 2012, 4:45 PM
It's bc of my cycle
My nipples were the sorest they've ever been for a week last week. I had to wear a sports bra to bed. I wore 2 bras to exercise (cardio), a padded bra & a sports bra. It was bc of my cycle - I got my period yesterday. I'm 42, not preg, never been, & am likely in periomenopause.

Sore nipples, nausea, 3yr absent period...
Hi, I'm 20 and I've been having really sore nipples lately and I'm not sure why. I can't 'wait' for my period to come because I don't get them due to poly cystic ovaries. I just recently got married just over a month and a half ago and I'm not on any form of contraception. I started feeling nauseous 3wks after the wedding for a few days, then it stopped. I took a pt that day but it came out negative. I also went to the Dr's and they did a urine pt - also negative. Two wks later I threw up a little bit. Two days later I threw up again a little bit. I then left it for a few days and took another pt which was negative again but lately I've been getting more and more preg symptoms but no positive test. Can anyone help me please?? Thanks

Sore Nipps
My nipples have been sore since the 6th of April, on the 7th, which was the day of ovulation I had a brown discharge. On the 9th I noticed when I urinated the was a small amount of blood when I wiped. My cycle is not due until the 21st but it is very unusual for my nipples to be so sore for this long. This only occurs 3 days prior to my cycle. What could be going on?

sore nipples
I am 52. Mother, married. Not on hormones of any kind. For all my life I have had extremely sore breasts. And the least 15 years my nipples hurt so badly all the time. My grandmother had fibrocystic breast so badly that she had a double mastectomy! I have thought about having surgery on my nipples! I get tired of showing, even through padded bras. And it hurts SO bad! I think I am going through menopause now. But this has always been an issue. Oh yes, my hormone level did check out normal a year ago.

It sounds like mastitis and I would recommend seeing your doctor. It occurs in women and animals and can be etremely painful. It can be cause by a variety of thins or nothing at all.

However my bf and I have been trying to concieve for over 6 months but disheartenly to no avail so i've given up on that until it has been a year then i will go back to GP as advised. I can definately rule out pregnancy for the cause of my sore breasts as i took as test this morning (first response) which came back neg. this has never happened to me before PLS HELP what could be causing my breasts to be so sore??????
Monday, November 5, 2012, 7:40 AM
Yes I've been going through the same thing for many years. I'm not on birth control or any Meds ,shots etc... It's PAINFUL! My Husband & I went shopping and was on our way home a little bit ago and it started up .the best way I can describe the feeling is my nipples get very hard and it feels like a lighter is being held under my nipples & the pain radiates to my breast UGH the PAIN is HORRIBLE! I was crying it hard so bad on the way home I had my husband remove my bra & I held them towards the cars heater while I had the heater as high as it could go. I live in Pa so it's cold this time of year so it was snowing & very windy/cold when I was getting in the car. I have went Manu times to the hospital ER and they say they wouldn't no what it could be. I have had this happen a few times in the summer but not as often as winter time. I'm kinda wondering if u wouldn't mind remembering what you had to eat the last time u had this happen. I am wondering if it may have something to do with hormones in meats/eggs/or Milk from the store or it might be a hormone in women but just a few of us have more idk but I'm making a appointment to see a Doc and to have test ran I can't take it much longer!

I have sore breasts and sore nipples. I keep wondering if I"m pregnant but I'm just like you and I don't want a baby right now either. I don't even want to put cream on it.

Raw feeling nipples
Help! So I’ve always had sensitive nipples but in a good way during sex. Well the pas couple of months, when my husband sucks on my nipples they feel raw and a stinging sensation super fast. He isn’t even aggressive while doing it, so I’m confused as to why this is all of a sudden happening. Plus I just got off my period, so I don’t think I’m pregnant.
