anyone ever get a hernia from exercise?

I did about 10 months ago, had surgery and I am healed but was wondering if anyone else experienced this, if so, do you have any side effects or pain lingering?

(I was weight lifting at the time, still do just not as much)

Yes I did............

Yes, I got a hernia from running about 10 years ago, when I started running marathons (running 50 miles a week). My dr put in some sort of special sheathing in my surgical site, because he said I was so active that he was afraid I would get another hernia if I just had stitches, thus the sheathing to protect anything from popping out again. I lost some feeling in my upper leg/crotch area (nothing major), but still have it, and the stitches/surgery area (about 2 inches long) is ugly, but other than I have not had any other side effects. I love running and hate weight training, so I know I wasn't doing anything like you were to cause it.

Thanks so much for starting this thread. I had a massage a few weeks ago and the masseuse felt my abdomen very suspiciously and said she thinks I have a hernia. I've been having pains in that area for quite a while; what can I expect when I go to my doctor?

your doctor will feel your abdomen and possibly say the same thing, I actually had pain there, do you feel pain?

My dr. didn't do much, just felt in the area and I told him my symptoms and he said, yep, sounds like a hernia. Yes, I had pain there, but nothing really bad. Pain in that area was really my only symptom.

I'm the 6:54 AM poster. Yes, I do have pain sometimes, but not always. I thought the pain was in the neighborhood of the ovary, but I guess I may be wrong. How was the hernia treated?
Thanks again for all the information.
