workout music - what do you listen to?

Hi everyone,

I am bored with the contents of my ipod and need to stock up on some good workout music. What do you listen to that really energizes you? My favorite of late is Madonna's new CD but I've kind of worn it out. Also have some Brazilian music, Buddha Bar (not the chillout CD obviously).. but they are boring me to death now and I'm stuck for ideas. help!

I've heard 80's music is the way to go...

I listen to Thousand Foot Krutch - It's impossible not to get in the groove with them going. They even have a song called "Move". Makes my feet twitch and I usualy set my pace to their beat. You can check them out at http://www.thousandfootkrutch.com/main.php - they stream some music at their site.

There is a hip hop station I listen to that does a 12 noon workout. They really pump it up and give exercise/diet tips instead of commercials for 25 minutes. I tape that and listen to it when I workout. It is fabulous.

80s music is good for me if I have to listen to music, because the songs are generally lively and energetic and the tempos are mostly good for working out. And I graduated in 1984...

But mostly, I don't listen to music. I work out outside and prefer the sounds of birds, water, breeze, whatever.

Workout Music

With whatever I'm doing to exercise, I like to download the latest hits. Here is an example of some of the songs currently on my mp3 player:
Golddigger-Kanye West
Ridin' Dirty-Chamillionaire
Holla' Back Girl-Gwen Stefani
Whoop That Trick-three 6 Mafia (From Hustle & Flow Movie)
Plus others I can't think of off the top of my head.
Hope that gives you some ideas!
Jessica

thanks everyone, that's great! I appreciate it. Didn't occur to me to listen to oldies, or 80's music.. I will dig out my Duran Duran CDs!!!!

What about electronic dance music?? (If that's even a genre.. hopefully you know what I mean?) Any compilations of 80's or 90's dance music that anyone can think of? (Even if it's cheesy, I don't care!! I just need a change.)

Cheers!

The Jock Jams cds have some really upbeat and fun workout music. It's mostly stuff from the early to mid 90's. If you want something really fast, check out the mortal kombat soundtrack.

I love "Shake" with Pitbull and the Ying Yang twins.
It has a hot beat.
Sean Paul's "Temperature" is good too, especially to jog to.
I also love the Chemical Brothers and Prodigy- they're good for sprinting! lol

Techno is good too, the beat is really easy to keep your momentum going. I like cheesy techno: Alice Deejay, DJ Sammy. Whatever site you use to download songs just put in techno and it should pull up a lot of different things. It's fast and upbeat!
Enjoy!

I found great music on lime wire. search for cheerleading music, spinning, aerobic or just type in work out music. I love the Black eye peas!

this is such a personal thing- ie, someone here suggested temperature by sean paul for running, but for me, that beat is way too slow for a jog- I need something with a faster driving beat.

But, if you're thinking dance, especially 90's well then...

Cotton eyed Joe- by the rednex,
I like to Move it (jock jam version),
Around the world by ATC,
Another Night by Real McCoy.
Come and Get your Love by Real McCoy
Be My Lover OR Runaway OR Tonight is the Night by LaBouche
Broken Bones by Love Inc
Almost anything by Prozzack or Aqua and most backstreet boys and Britney...
What is Love by Hadaway
Do ya think I'm sexy by N-Trance
King of My Castle by Wamdue Project
Total Eclipse of the Heart by Nikki French
Men in Black, Miami, or Wild Wild West by Will Smith
La VIda Loca by RIcky Martin
Blue by Eifel 65
Sandstorm by Darude
Its not right but its Ok by Whitney Houston (Dance mix version)
Boom Boom Boom Boom by Venga Boys
Pump up the Jam by technotronic
Rythym is a dancer by Snap
RYthym is gonna get you OR Conga OR Everlasting Love by Gloria Estevan
Lets Get Loud by JLo (Some of her other remixes of early stuff is good too)
Saturday Night by Whigfield
Mr. Vain by ?? (CnC music factory? I can't remember)
Come on Ride that Train by Quad city DJ's
Everybody Dance Now by CnC Music Factory

The Romantics are my favorite group... So, I'm a Romantics music junkie.

The majority of their music is up-tempo, so I plug into my collection and take of walking at at an aerobic pace! ;-)

When I'm doing my workouts I need to get more energy, so metal music is can help me with that. There is a lot of very powerful bands like Metallica, Slayer, maybe some nu-metal like Slipknot or Korn, and there is a lot of good old music too: Led Zeppelin or Black Sabbath. Hey if you have your own band and you need to get more attention to your release then you can click on this link to get spotify promotion. They will give you your followers in no time.
