hungry after eating vegetarian food

I can't figure it out every Monday before I go to meditation I eat a well balanced vegetarian meal. I have tried increasing my portion, or increasing my water intake, and adding fruit, but nothing is working, I am still hungry!

add either some good healthy fat (olive oil perhaps?) or bit the bullet and eat protien. Personally, I feel sluggish, hungry, and cranky if I don't get enough animal protein in my diet.

you don't have to add animal protein to make a meal satisfying or filling. Perhaps you just aren't eating enough? Or add some protein-but if you are trying to go vegetarian for this meditation I suggest quickly cooking up some tofu to veggies and rice or make a salad w/ some nuts and cheese in it. And don't forget beans!!!! hummus is great too!

I find that hitting the protein hard in the morning is key for me. Try a tofu scramble for breakfast, maybe? It works for me.

Thick, whole grains help also. A cup of 5-grain oatmeal in the morning, with a piece of fruit and maybe some veggie sausages, keeps me full until noon.

hope I got this right, I usually use olive oil in my salads with vinegar and fine herbs as a dressing, my protein source is usually beans since I am lactose intolerant and may be soy intolerant as well. Would it make sense to eat half my meal before going to meditation and the other half after?

If you are actually hungry before and after, then go ahead split up your meal.

how do you stay awake if you've just eaten? Usually, I meditate on an empty stomach or after three/four hours after I've eaten. I've been a lifelong vegetarian (well, barring a few months) and am never hungry, unless I've eaten pretty much only salads and stuff like that.

You may need more dense proteins and fats.
Try adding nuts and more healthy oils. I know you can get almond based cheeses - I've tried them. Tofu is such a low fat food that this may not sustain you, or you may need to eat a lot more of it.

I have this same problem with vegetarian eating, so after years of mostly vegetarianism, I now eat some meat, but I'm not suggesting you do that.

I guess I will have to buk up my meal and divide it but I can't meditate if I am hungry since all I will think of is how hungry I am. Also maybe I was not eatting enough during the day.
