last logged posting time

Sometimes when coming in to log or comment in my groups I see that someone has "just posted" via the time under their nickname- but there is nothing new in their previous days post or in thier morning post and nothing new about their goal. I tried just doing a comment- and it had not changed my last post time- so it could not be that it affects the log post time. Would someone be going in to post something and then change their mind- producing a changed time but nothing new? or is it for that personal log thing that no one but the poster gets to see?
Just curious if anyone has figured this out-or wondered.

it's simple - if you press "my log" you will be put in the updating mode whether you like it or not. you then press update to get yourself into viewing mode and the timestamp is created - even though you had not changed anything and had no intention of posting.

Also, they might be logging in on a different day - either in the past or in the future.
