OP here - sorry, not Luna. I've had those, but Whole Foods has a sale on Larabar products this week and I'm curious to read others' opinions before I try them.

apple pie lara bars are to die for!!! SO love the taste of them. I didn't care so much for the gingersnap ones. But apple, cherry, and banana are great.
As for nutritional- they're fruit and nut bars, no added junk. So they're not full of extra nutrients- really, they're a great snack on the go, but I wouldn't call them an energy, and especially not a power bar.

I recently bought an apple pie lara bar and HATED it. It tasted very dense, and rather than tasting like apples (or pie, for that matter) I thought it tasted like dates. And I don't really like dates. But everyone's tastes are different, and it's only an investment of a dollar or so. For the record, I like Luna bars, and think they are much more satisfying than my Lara bar experience. In the future I will try to get my fruit fix from fresh fruit, not nutritional bars.

I like them
I wouldn't call Lara bars nutrition bars or power bars. The whole idea of them is that they are plain whole, raw foods--no soy crap (I like clif bars but sometimes they give me gut bombs because of all the soy stuff).
Lara bars aren't cheap with calories - around 200 - but great before a really long workout (like a 30-40 mile bike ride) or as a meal replacement. And I like that there are really only 3 or 4 ingredients.
The Clif Nectar bars are similar in style - whole foods, no added stuff, and are smaller so less calories. The walnut chocolate tastes like a brownie for about 140-160 calories IIRC.
Good fiber/natural fat sources in both.
Lara - I like cherry, apple, ginger, and pecan pie is my favorite.
Clif bars - I like the vanilla cashew (sounds weird but is good) and the chocolate walnut.

mmm...
I also love them. They'll never replace a snickers bars, but for a packaged bar-type thing, they're really pretty good. The calories are all from dried fruits & nuts, both good things to have in moderation. They're not something I snack on every day, but I keep a few in my purse/desk/glove compartment and they've saved my butt during a few "emergencies".
My all time favorite is probably the cocoa mole. Chocolate with just a bit of heat. Interesting, & very tasty (if you're into the spicy thing!)
