a great dessert/snack
Cut up a banana and freeze it. They're a wonderful dessert. They taste creamy like ice cream and since they're frozen, you have to eat them slowly.

Thanks!
How did you think of this?
I prefer the Skinny Cow ice cream sandwich's. ILOVE them!

Oh!
Trader Joe's has Chocolate covered frozen bananas. Put it on a popsicle stick-- really yummy! And, actually I don't think the chocolate is really that much extra in calories. I buy them occasionally in lieu of ice cream bars as a nice summertime treat!
Have you tried frozen grapes, too? I recently found some really phenomenal grapes called "Muscat" grapes-- they taste like the Muscat wines. A round grape, pale green with a blush of pink. I haven't tried freezing them yet, but I'll bet they taste good that way!

How about Kumquats?
A burst of sour with a little bitter from the rinds. One of my group members recommended them. I just tried them and they take a little getting used to (rinse with some veggie wash and then eat them whole) They are pretty good in a fruit salad, plus you get some Vitamin C with them as well!

This was someone else's suggestion off the community board several weeks ago and I am so thankful I saw it. Low-fat vanilla yogurt (~80 cal) with a spoonful of cocoa (baking powder) stirred into it. Make sure you stir it good so you do'nt get a little ball of powder! It makes me feel like I'm having a treat when in fact I'm having something with calcium and it's low cal. The cocoa only adds about 20 calories at the most plus it provides just a tiny bit of fiber, not to mention the satisfaction of eating something chocolatey! I LOVE it!

My favorite lately is unsweetned apple sauce. The single serving cups are 50 cal. It's even better with the 100 cal pack of peaunt butter cookies (nabisco/planters). I use the cookies as spoons. ;)

from the cooper clinic...
Wash, core and quarter 1 apple or pear. Sprinkle fruit with 1 to 2 tablespoons orange juice and a dusting of cinnamon. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until soft. Enjoy with a teaspoon of warm maple syrup.

Another version of frozen banana desser -
chop bananas up and freeze. Once frozen, take out of freezer and defrost for 10 mins or so. Put in a food processor and process until creamy. Refreeze.
There you have it - banana ice cream!

frozen bananas
When i was a kid my mom would freeze bananas and put them in the juicer and they came out looking like ice cream. I hated bananas as a kid but when she did that I ate them.

Absolulely!!!
A frozen banana peel would be very bitter...
If you peel first before freezing, I suggest coating the banana with a little lemon or orange juice so that it doesn't turn brown.
