NOTE TO SELF: Do not eat beans on days you workout at the gym!

Definitely TMI, but oh well. LOL...So I had a little beans in my lunch. Big mistake. I wasn't really able to *focus* to well in my class today because of the other *issues* on my mind. Man...I'm just glad I didn't turn into "that girl that farted in class".

LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How about being in a big grocery store and really NEEDING to let one fly, but knowing that they are the big stinky farts! (especially when you don't know if someone will be coming down that aisle after you!)

A much needed giggle this morning...

I can SO feel your pain... I was "that girl" - in a yoga class. It was so quiet & serene, it just seemed to echo. Even better... one of the girls near me started giggling... it took a while before I went back to that class!

I guess it's a small price to pay to have enough fiber in your diet!

I usually don't have this problem, but my 8-year-old son does. However, it might as well be me because when we are out, he lets one go right beside me and then disappers. So when that hunk comes up behind be in line - yep - I'm the only one there. And his are the kind that really stick around!!! :<)

What a funny thread. My 16 year old son laughs everytime he lets out a "cutz" (whether or not he is by himself or with others). He says it's God's joke to humans (a gift if you will) ...it gives people something to smile and laugh about.

Star - that's just like my husband - he calls them "cut and runs" and does that when we're places. It's mortifying when he does it, but funny all the same.

I save beans for nights when I'm home alone. Some people like Beano but there may be a potential allergy so I've avoided it. Too much garlic and onions can also wreak havoc on your GI tract.

haha! why are farts so funny? you know, I have experienced first-hand the gastric powers of garlic. I think that if you eat something that is already prone to cause gas, eating that food WITH garlic, raw garlic, can cause you to not want to be in the same room with yourself.. wow! incredible.

Farts are normal and natural, they just smell horrid. I personally don't hesitate to let them go in supermarkets, and I don't really care who smells them.

The best part about all of this is that nobody knows who i am here... or I'd never write this!! hehe. We are a society that can't admit readily to our fart habits.

haha this is such a great thread. We talk to much about our struggles with food and exercise but rarely do we discuss the small side effects of them. all these healthy foods like fruit veggies etc are great but man can they make you gassy! I get nervous in public bathrooms these days where people can hear everything!

Beano for me proved to be a problem. I broke out in hives so bad that my eyes swelled shut! I later found out that i'm allergic to mold, so I think that's why I reacted that way...

When in a public bathroom, I flush the toilet to hopefully keep the smell down.

Also, one night, I had the awful mis-fortune of feeding my hubby & friends some of that garlic bread (you know, the kind you get in the freezer section with about 2 lbs of garlic and butter on top?) They reeked SOOOOO bad that I basically gave them each a PACK of gum to chew (the garlic burps were probably as bad, if not worse than the garlic farts!!!

I made a note to myself and won't serve any garlic bread unless it's home made and I can control the AMOUNT of garlic in the bread!

yes, I actually think it's worth offering up as advice:

if you didn't know that raw garlic can cause the worst death breath and farts on earth, well - it does! don't serve it/eat it on any important days/evenings when people you'd like to keep in your life are around! hahaha. this is a funny thread.

Talking about garlic breath.

My friend told me she feeds her dog garlic to get rid of fleas.

Another one feeds their dog carrots.

Dog farts are the worst thing in the world-- because usually, the dog sneaks up behind you when you least expect it and lets one fly!!! (you have to leave the room, the smell is so bad!!!

farts in class

I'm a fitness instructor & eating a lot of sugary foods does it for me, so on tone holiday weekends when I indulged on too may sugary sweets, my class on Monday mornings I'm sure suffer through my uncontrolable SBD'S (Silent But Deadly farts) So needless to say I try to stay away from the candy on the weekends now! Thank God for the fans that take away the smell quickly. But hey this is just part of life, in Europe they fart openly.

For all you bean lovers out there if you make your own pot of beans at home, soak them over night before making your recipe, this really works. (This is how my sister took away her husbands fart ammo (he loves to fart around her).

Women who fart.

I go to work at 7:30 AM usually before everyone arrives in my building. I took the elevator up by myself to the 3rd floor & couldn't hold one in & it was a bad one, I thought oh well it's early no one will be around. As I came out & got around the corner a Physician went into the elevator & I could see in the hallway mirrors he came right back out & took the stairs. I had to giggle! But now in his mind every time he sees me, I'm the lady w/the stinky farts ! oh well.

This thread is really stupid!!! But, I am sitting here giggling like a little school girl :-) As silly as it may be, it's nice to have a light topic in the lounge. Life's not all about battling heavy weight (physically, emotionally, etc...), and this topic has brought a smile on my face...bringing out the child in me. Thanks for the hilariousness of this tread.

the cure for vampires

I never heard of garlic causing gas -- it doesn't have that effect on me -- but I looooove garlic. For a while I was eating so much of it that I started to SWEAT garlic smell. I noticed this because my towel smelled like garlic. Needless to say, I decided to cut back a little on garlic after that....

LOL@ the last poster-- I always wonder if I smell garlicky after eating something heavily spiced with Garlic. The problem, I think, is that the person eating it won't always notice the smell because it's in their body, however, someone else who doesn't eat the garlic can tell right away!

(and you wonder why people who eat garlic don't get sick? I think it's because others stay far away!)
