How do you handle disappointment?

I am really upset. I was up for a big new project at work and the entire new division of the company just went kaput. I was happy to do something new and it's just not going to happen. Any advice is appreciated!

I cry my eyes out. Seriously. They fall right out of my head.

No, I cry until I've let out all that crappy negative energy. Sometimes that takes a while. Then the old me would have eaten until I felt better. Now I get in contact with a friend or someone who really knows how smart and capable and worthy I am and let them bolster my spirits. And it doesn't really matter where the people are... sometimes I go straight to my Internet friends and bathe in their love and support and understanding. I know it sounds trite, but life just really sucks sometimes. Friends and family can help it suck less.

I would either cry, or find something to really make you laugh. That helps to forget about it for a moment or two. But I believe things happen for a reason, so this might open up other opportunities down the road. Someday you will look back and say, "Wow, if that never would've happened, I would never be doing ______ right now".

I usually deal with disappointment by facing it and then you will feel lighter. We have the ability to focus on other things, such as counting our blessings, enjoying a beautiful day, or marveling at the wonderful people we have in our lives, playing I like to play drive mad. If you ease your frustrations, you will be more likely to think positively and feel more joyful and fulfilled. You'll put your unrealistic expectations of others on hold, which sets the stage for better communication and more meaningful conversations and connections.
