yeast free diet?

Anyone here trying to stay on a yeast free diet to beat candida? I have looked into it in the past, but have never had luck sticking with it. Maybe a seperate group could be started. Also hard because my husband does not believe in homeopathics or taking vitamins.

Here is a link for those who are not sure what I am talking about.

and another link below that also describes a yeast free diet.....

I wonder-- does your husband have to partake in the same diet as you do?

I mean, for example. maybe he likes beer, and bread, but can you give it up because of the diet you need for your own health? Can you take homeopathics or vitamins for your own good?

I understand that you may not want to cook things that you both can't eat, but it seems to me that if you need to change some things in your diet, it shouldn't really affect him all that much...? or is he so against homeopathics and vitamins that he won't "allow" you to take them?

Seems like if the yeast issue is something affecting your health, you need to address it in whatever way works for your body.....

I guess I don't understand why he would have a problem with you making a change for your health (especially, if it doesn't change his diet and health)?

Hi!- he does not tell me not to... he just says it is quackery... I would not make him follow it.. he could eat what he wanted... it just makes it more difficult to follow something out there when the person you love belittles it... then when one suffers each month with itchy symptoms here and there... and continually spending $$$ on relief or trying to live without it... it just all gets old.
I have tried it before in small doses and it seems to help- I just can't stick to it for long- it is an all or nothing sort of diet and I just don't do well on that sort of thing- it is being either emotionally miserable or physically miserable.

I find that cutting sugars helps minimizing candida overgrowth. Also, eat a lot of yogurt (look for 'active cultures' on the label) - that really helps. Also, many health food stores carry Acidophullus (they label it for digestive tract, but it also works for candida) - remember to keep it in the fridge...

I just forgot to add, that I understand your frustration - have been there and yes those OTC treatments (the ones that work) can get really expensive. But try yogurt and acidophalus. Also drug stores carry something I think called 'yeast free' - brand AZ??? - very inexpensive, look in the herbs and vitamins aisle.
