any women out there for whom ToM makes little difference to eating habits?
I'm starting to wonder if I'm the only one who isn't in the slightest bit affected by cravings at that time. If anything I want to eat less, because of the cramps. Everyone else here seems to eat their way through it, or have to try hard not to. Almost as if they were talking about pregnancy rather than ToM.

For a second I thought you were a person in one of my groups...
she and I were both hit with cheezit cravings today! It was weird - I didn't even read that she had the cheezit craving til I went to confess my binge!!
I'm not always affected - maybe 4 times out of the year I have it rough with the cravings.
I'm now sitting here eating my way through a bag of endamame - a MUCH better choice if i had to choose something to binge on!
Blozzom :-)

I am a person in one of your groups :) [can you guess who i am though?]
But I see this phenom in all of my groups. It's just me, and I guess the one guy, who don't seem to get the cravings. I feel very unfemale, with everyone else empathizing about cycles affecting their hunger.

hrm.... guess who you are??? You DON'T get the cravings and you mention the "one guy" (we all know that's Digby ;-) - hehe) Now I will have to go look at the group that has Digby in it... am I warm? LOL

what is ToM?

Time of month (TOM)
:-)

duh! I rarely have any adverse effects of ToM on me, except for cramps if I overeat.
Hmm, craving cheezit is abnormal and is probably in the head. But it is true that women crave chocolate, nuts and red meat out of deficiency for magnesium and iron. I find that taking magnesium supplement helps choc. cravings...

but i have cravings ALL the time-i just think it might be harder not to give in when we aren't feeling so good!

I don't usually get specific cravings but I do feel much hungrier right before my TOM than I usually do.

What cracks me up is what the scale does!!!! Shoots waaaaay up and then drops dramatically after and stays down!!

Of course! TOM makes a difference. Like most women I know, I crave chocolate before my period. Sometimes I crave beef during my period, I think that's common too.

To the cheese, avocado, nuts craver - that is also a sign of magnesium defficiency. Nuts craving definitely gest alleviated by magnesium. I'd think that avocado has this similar nutty flavor - could be a sign of Mg deficiency.
My favorite supplement is also Potassium - does help bloating and water retention (without calories of a banana).
