I have started using the Sauna at the gym. Will this help with weight loss?

I have recently started back at the gym with a goal to try out all the classes. I love the sauna and plan to use it regularly. I should imagine with the amount you sweat that this would be good for weight loss???

A sauna will produce no real weight loss. Sweat is just the way of the body cooling itself. After the sauna you should drink water to replenish that water loss. When you drink that water the body will refuel its cells that have been depleted from the sweat.

Think of the sauna like the a pre-wrestler weigh in. Just before weigh in, wrestlers who are on the border will spit and pee and do anything they can to get in to their weight class. As soon as they stop that behaviour, they go back to their real weight.

You're only losing water, it all comes back.

That is what I thought. It is very good for the pores of your skin though, as I have not had my skin look so clear for ages.

It's good for your skin, it's good for relaxing your muscles... and it's good for relaxation in general. There are a lot of good things about it. But it won't really help with weight loss.

Dido. No more acnes after using the sauna. Also great fo muscle relaxation after hard work out. However, I do prefer lighter food after taking a sauna (similar to eating less on hot summer days). So, I usually would have smoothie or fruits on sauna days instead of sweets. I suppose that could help with weight loss.

Sweating is a great way to get rid of toxins. Drink lots of water during the sauna. Just be careful how long you stay in. Not great for weight loss unless it is something you look forward to getting to the gym for.
