How much is too much?

No...not food lol I'm talking about water. Is it possible to drink too much water? It seems to me to be and answer to weight loss (at least right now when I'm just beginning). The more you drink the fuller you are, the less you eat, the more you lose....what's everyone's thoughts on this and does anyone how much is too much?

The rule that I've heard that makes the most sense is this:

Take the amount that you weigh in ounces and then halve the number. That is the number of ounces you should drink in water a day.

For example, if you weigh 128 pounds, that would be 128 / 2 = 64.

Typically there are 8 ounces in a glass of water so 8 x 8 is 64 so 8 glasses of water a day would be the recommendation.

There is a lot of evidence that suggests drinking lots of water a day is not necessary if you eat water rich foods such as fruits and vegetables. It's worth taking a look.

Thanks ~ now I kind of think I need to drink more since I'm definitely not 128 pounds.

I've only been on here for 3 days (today is day 4) and started my weight loss journey the day I started on here and I have been drinking a lot of water...that was my initial goal, to drink lots of water. I have been drinking around 12 bottles of water a day and it has been really successful, in 3 days I've lost 4.5 pounds. I'm a little concerned because there have been instances of people drinking too much water and dying, of it making your liver work too hard and failing and I'm trying to figure out how much is too much. I know the basis is 8-8oz glasses per day and drinking 12 500 ml bottles equals around 24 8 ounce glasses but it's working so I don't want to cut back...

Have you ever watched The Biggest Loser? Those people who lose 30 pounds in a week are regulated and monitored and even at that, their losses are just water. They lose it from sweating and flushing.

PP you are drinking too much water. You think you are losing but you aren't. You're just flushing and eventually you're going to stall out and stay at one weight for a couple weeks because your body isn't flushing anymore.
