diet study? national campaign...
http://www.dietstudy.com
I actually went though and called because I qualified, only I said I was not nursing... but when I talked to them they said I did not qualify because I am... only I don't think it really counts because he only nurses a little in the morning and at night now, he is not relying on me entirely for his nutrition. grrr... you could get $1000 for participating in this study...
Anyone participating in this or went to the site to qualify?

OP here
One of my groupmates is actually going to do this... she explained her line of thinking and I told her about my thread here and she may post and explain. She has been on a wicked plateau lately and does not like to cook... so this is sort of right up her alley, eating wafters and a vitamin they provide with that $300.

This "study" sounds half gimmick and half like a new product needing success stories.
You start off paying $150 for "enrollment", 3 months worth of daily vitamin supplements and 1 month's worth of vanilla wafers. You eat wafers plus unlimited fruit and veggies every other day, and eat normally on your non-diet days. You can pre-order a second month's worth of wafers for $60, and every additional month is $75 (not sure what the vitamins run, but I can't imagine I'd bother with them beyond the 3 months). At the end of 3 months, you get your $1000...I anticipate a catch.
They theorize that you will reduce your calorie consumption in half by dieting this way (I think more like 30%), and by eating normally half the time, cravings won't pile up on you. Also, there's a plateau-avoiding/breaking theory where you vary your calories by 10-20% every day around your target consumption, and this seems to incorporate that.
Anyway, I've gotten no weight loss results from 2 months / $600 worth of personal training and this plan costs $6-7 a day compared to $10-12 that I spend on take-out food - this would be a bargain even if it didn't work and I didn't get the "study" money.

But this plan isn't giving you any food for your money - just vanilla wafers.
You'll still have to pay for food every other day.
Why not just do this yourself? Every other day, eat nothing but fruit + veg (and maybe get some wafers from a store) and see how you do after a week?
The only advantage I can see in doing the plan is if they really give you teh $1000 at the end - then you're being paid to lose weight. But I don't think what they are sending you is worth the money...

You're assuming she'll get wafers and vitimans; the cons will probably just take her money and leave town; she'll get nothing but out $300. She shouldn't even think twice about doing that, big stinking SCAM!

OP typing
When I called, they would not let me continue cause I was still nursing my toddler. I tried to get them to let me participate-cause he is only nursing in the morning and at night for a little. (this was before I knew they were charging any money) SO if it really was all scam; would they really be so picky? Wouldn't their perogative be to get as many sales of wafers they could?

More liability if yo're pregnant or nursing.

What a SCAM!
I just did there online survey before doing some research before making the phone call and found this site. I'm glad I did because the fact they do not ask for any money in there radio commercial or on there website labels this as a scam. I decided to call them anyway just to play it out and see what happened and the guy on the phone sounded like a used car salesman (obviously payed on commision). I talked to him for 15 minutes and still no mention of a dime. So I finally decided I was running low on time and stopped him and asked "I know this program is free since you guys are actually paying according to the radio but I figure I should ask" and he then pauses for a second and says, there is a small fee but its refunded at the end of the trial. I asked him how much the fee was and he said $150 no and two other payments of $75. I was a little irritated even after reading this site and knowing to expect this just because he tried to mask it thoughout the conversation. I then asked him if they could take the $300 out of the $1000 they pay me at the end. They said they can't do that because not everyone sticks to the program. I then asked what qualifies me as sticking to the program and he said that I had to get some examination from a doctor and then send that documentation with a before and after picture to them with writen testomony that the product works and they will give me the $1000. I was floored at these tactics, this is another BS story. I told the guy on the phone that I would sign a contract that would hold me to the $300 if I did not complete the program. He again said they could not do that. I then told him to have a good day and that I was not interested and then he tried to pull the "Wait.. Wait.. Wait..." trick and I hung up. I'm completely disppointed in the misleading dishonesty of this corporation. The guy also kept telling me on the phone that they know there product works and they just need testomony for future radio commercials. I'm pretty sure you do not get the $1000 unless your testomony is picked. Also there phone lines were so backed up it took me 10 minutes on hold just to talk to them and I'm pretty sure the company is not disking out hundreds of millions of dollars.

Fake
The Better Business Bureau has over 100 complaints against this company. They are another group of people ripping off people who are at their wit's end and seeking help.

its a bunch of bull
I heard this advertisment on the radio then went to the website and quilified. I then had to call the number and got a person in like 5 mins she then asked for my name then hung up. I called again then it took me 10 mins to get another representative and complained and he seemed like he didnt care. I went through all the stuff what the second to the last person had to go through. The BBB better do something about this bs company trying to scam people who reall want a way to lose weight.
