HELP! Can this be?
I weighed 184 last week, went to NYC, drank one night and ate a LOT, but how can it be that I gained almost 7 lbs in one week?!

i'm not sure if that's possible and if so it's probably mostly fluid. the important thing is don't freak out and get back on track. kicking yourself in the ass won't make you feel any better

Sometimes you just have to ignore the scale. On one day in December it said I put on 8 pounds between 8 am and 4 pm. And I wasn't splurging on calories and I worked out on that day. What- ever! Do your clothes still fit after your trip?

You probably ate a lot of food with salt in it. That and the alcohol (depending on the kind you had) could make you retain water. You would have to eat and drink about 24,500 extra calories(over what your body needs to survive) in one night to truly gain 7 pounds in one day. I'm not even sure it's humanly possible to eat that many calories in a day.

Yes it can be, I ate ONE bad item that I shouldn't have had on my way to the gym. My body reacted by allowing me to gain 7lbs that did not come off until a few weeks later......

very true
i went out of town for 3 days and gained 7.8 lbs..i have had to watch evry little thing i ate this week but am weighing in at WW tomorrow..but i tell you its not just water that just dissapeared over a day or 2 i have been watching my home scale and it has taken this whole week to drop it

Okay, this may sound gross, but it DOES take time for you to digest the food... As long as it's still in your system, you'll probably keep the weight around... (After a few days of bowel movements and drinking water to get rid of the bloat, I'm sure your scate will drop. :-)

OP here
NO WAY! 7 lbs from one item? What was it?
I road tripped it to NYC and stopped at Mc Donald's (all there was) I had it twice but stuck to chicken sandwiches although I did include fries. While in NYC I was nursing a hangover so everything I ate was pretty bad.
I am trying to get on track today. I have done well so far.

Hormones can also play havoc with your weight, depending on where you are in your cycle and how old you are.

Spend a week eating as you normally do, drinking plenty of water, and exercising. You should be back to what you were before the trip, no problem. Maybe 1lb up, but no more. And losing 7lbs in a week of "normal" behavior certainly isn't normal, so, there's proof that you didn't truly gain all of the weight.
