Bombarded by ads !

What is the deal with all the ads popping up everywhere?
It is a bit to much for me.
I know PEERtrainer needs to make money but I'd rather pay to not see all that mind garbage.

I'll stomach the mind garbage if it means peertrainer is free.

I will probly drop soon if it continues. It went from being a excellent and positive site to money hungry over night. I don't watch much tv for the same reason.

I haven't seen any popups - I use Firefox. You can choose to block them.

I agree with the OP, those flashing wiggling ads are really irksome. I will *NEVER* click on an obnoxious ad (and I don't watch TV or listen to commercial radio for the same reason). I miss the nice dignified and even actually useful old style google ads. DO YOU HEAR ME ADVERTISERS - YOUR OBNOXIOUS ADS TURN ME OFF AND MAKE ME GO OUT OF MY WAY TO *NEVER* USE YOUR SERVICES!!!!!!!!!!!!!

These new ones make coming to the lounge unsavory. they bother me on the group pages, too. I find myself not really wanting to post much anymore because of being bothered. Drop the "sponsored" ads and bring back the non-wiggling text ads.

I'm just glad they got rid of those really annoying Verizon ads and the other one with the falling hearts -- every time I moved my mouse, some stupid song would blast out of my computer. It made me wish I weren't already a Verizon customer.

As long as the ads are silent, I can live with them.

Use firefox or download a freeware popup blocker. You'll never have another popup again.

The ads are NOT pop ups, I am unsure of what you are talking about, but that is great if somehow you are able to not see all the flashing and the printed ads...I have pop up blocker as well and clearly see the annoying ads.... I hope they put it back to the way it was.

Everyone who has an issue with the ads, PLEASE contact customer care. I sent a letter explaining my dislike for the mind garbage and how it isn't positive, like the site started out being.

customercare@PEERtrainer.com

Thank so much!

Have a wonderful weekend everyone! :)

This thread sounds like a bunch of children whining about a bothersome sibling. If you do not like the ads then get a better popup blocker. I have not seen any ads other than the ones at the right of the screen and they just sit there for you to read. I have not seen any other ads on pt. If you have some obnoxious ads "bombarding" you then by all means call customer support and see if they can fix it. I have never heard of anyone wanting to leave pt because of some ads. How do you think this service is available to us for free? Did you think they do this out of the goodness of their hearts? And who doesn't watch TV because of the ads? I just don't watch the ads. Some people seem to take things to the extreme. If you have a problem then try to get it fixed. Whining to everyone will not help the situation.

I would also much rather deal with ads than pay for the site!

I completely tune out the ads and they don't bother me one bit. I applaud peertrainer for doing such a great job soliciting ad space on their site.

I totally agree with the 8:30 poster. Do people think the folks who run Peertrainer don't need to pay their bills? Do you think there is some fairy who comes and maintains the Peertrainer site? If you want a quality product you either have to deal with the ads or pay for it. I would much rather deal with the ads. TO PEERTRAINER: PLEASE DO NOT LISTEN TO THEM.

Hilarious

What is SOooooooooooo funny is that on our group's comments section it has an ad with a link called www.dieting4morons.com.
Not exactly a moral booster, but funny anyway!

How much would you pay for PT each month?

I appreciate that PT is free more than I am annoyed by the ads. If you are that annoyed, go to another site that will charge you and can then afford to not have to rely on advertising.

ads

I'm glad this is free, and probably would not be a member if it wasn't. But, when I'm typing a comment, the ads make my typing slow and that is very annoying. Other than that keep bringing in the money.

Funny, I didn't even notice that the ads on the side changed from the nice little Google ads to the full moving pictures! I see them, but still, I come here to read what's on the left, not the right, so who cares what's on the right?

I approve of the ads, they are reallly not that bothersome.....as others have mentioned they're only the right and they keep the site free..............which is very important to me......

This is a great website and resource, I hope a few whiners don't ruin the experience for the rest of us......

I am pro-keeping PeerTrainer free & would rather put up with the ads. I've gotten used to them and barely even see them anymore.

Wow! PEERtrainer has fixed it ! Yahoo !

It would be nice if people would fully read the original post before responding, the original poster made the comment that they understood that PEERtrainer needs to make money, and was willing to even pay a portion, and some one called them a "whinner". Whinner's don't offer a solution, they did, that is not a whinner. We all want this site to be a positive experience for all involved.

I did not call the first poster a whiner. I was referring to the other posters who made a minuscule problem seem like a major catastrophe. Some people just take things to the extreme. If those people do not want to be here due to some ads then they do not have to be here. I do not have a problem with the ads and do not see why someone would make such a fuss about ads on TV or PT.

I completely agree with you (poster above). It's not even a problem; why take the frustration out on PT?

This is supposed to be a positive site, and all opinions should be valued.
Stress is a big cause of weight issues and the least amount of stress that you have in your life the better.
There are studies that have been done on the effects of ads, TV et cetera as a big source of stress.
We need positive images for our minds not junk that companies want to sell to us for their own gain.
That is great if you enjoy TV and Ads being all over the place, not everyone does though... Let's be positive with each other, we aren't here to put one another down. Take care :)

To the above poster: You keep calling this mind junk. I suspect you are the same poster that keeps whining. Why don't we let this thread die unless you want to make it all hard for the rest of us. If it bothers you this much, you have the power to do whatever you want to do.

You keep responding, so I guess you are the one having a hard time letting it go. The original subject no longer is an issue, it is the immature responses that have followed. Oh well, we can agree to disagree on subjects, it would be boring if we all thought exactly the same. Take care.

I like this thread. If someone doesn't like it, then they don't need to read it ;-)

I actually enjoy infomative ads. I use gmail and google has some kind of gimmick that peruses the content of the emails and then puts nice, quiet, dignified and very pertinent ads in a well behaved border that doesn't interfere with clicking and reading. They actually are useful ads.

I think that advertisers should get some feedback as to whether what they are doing is effective. If it turns off people, we are doing them a service by telling them.

So, thanks to the OP for this opportunity to express myself.
