Tough Question - but not entirely OT

The Question: How do you tell someone that you love, that you think they need to be healthier and lose weight?

The Background story: I have been dating this guy for a year now, I am in my mid 20's and he is in his early 30's. For the first 6+ months or so, we were very unhealthy. We went out to eat late every night, consumed several bottles of wine... would skip meals during the day... we just did whatever we wanted. Now we have both seen the results, him in the form of about 30 lbs, me about 15 lbs. I have, in the last couple months, come to my senses and began exercising and dieting very strictly, and am already down 5 lbs. He however is still doing the same things. He doesn't drink as much, but he will go all day without eating, and then eat a crappy dinner. Which is the worst thing you could do. He has no energy. He gets stomach aches and gets sick all the time. He is still gaining weight... and now I'm getting worried.

I'm not asking this for superficial reasons, I'm asking this becuase I can't imagine that what he is still doing to his body is healthy and I am worried about the long term effects of this behavior. I have talked to him about his eating habits, and all he says is "I know" but he doesn't do anything. I'm sure there are other people that have been in my situation.... advice please!

I would tell him if I were you. But I am a very up-front and honest person in relationships. When I thought my hubby was gaining a little bit I let him know right away. He does the same for me and I appreciate it SO much. Our relationship started much like yours - we liked to eat and drink together! But the results were terrible for both of us! We are both in much healthier places now! As long as he knows your comments are coming from a good place I think he'll take the conversation well.

Good luck and keep us updated.
