I can't eat
My Mom was just hospitalized. I think she'll be OK but I find it hard to eat. I average about 1 meal a day, and then it's forced. This has been going on for only a few days, but I don't know how to fix it.
My body hurts in weird ways and my stomach feels queasy and heavy- I cry in the mornings and just don't know how to put food in my mouth. I know it's unhealthy. What can I do?

You might not be able to fix it until your mom is better. When things like that have happened to me, it would last 1-2 months. I could drink things though - if you can too, maybe pick up some Ensure or even Slimfast, something along those lines, since they're vitamin-enriched. I hope your trying times are over soon :(

You'll get back to normal soon. The same thing happened to me.

Yes, like the others said, thhs is totally normal, your body will get back to normal soon. Until that time, Ensure, smoothies, shakes, or something like that is a great idea.

Hope your mom gets better soon. Stress can do weird things to the body. Make sure that when you ARE eating that you try to get good nutritional things into your body.
I agree with those saying to try some of the nutritional drinks as well. Maybe remember to take vitamins as well.
I hope things get better for you soon.

I'm so sorry to hear about your mom, you sound like your are really suffering with worry. Is one meal your normal intake before your mom was in the hospital or is this just since then? I hope the situation is temporary but if it continues for a few days more you should talk to your doctor. It does your mom no good for you to suffer so much; there are medications you can take if your anxiety is too extreme for you to function normally. My thoughts are with you and your mother.

can't eat either
i am so sorry about your mother. my pain is nothing compared to yours, i'm sure, but i have been going through the same eating pattern for about two weeks now. my boyfriend of 4.5 years and i broke up about two weeks ago, and he just finished moving out yesterday. i have no appetite. most days, i can eat one solid light meal when someone puts it in front of me, but otherwise, food pretty much makes me nauseous. i'm staying hydrated though, and i've been trying to eat tiny snacks (fruit, almonds). meal replacements (Ensure, etc) kinda make me gag even more, unfortunately. oh, and i can't seem to sleep past 6:30am, nor fall asleep before 1am.
anyway, i have no motivation to do anything, but i promised myself i would start going to the gym again tomorow. hopefully this will make me hungry *and* sleep better.
plus, this is the least of my worries, but i'm hoping that getting back to the gym will help me to not instantly gain back *all* 7 of the pounds i've lost in the last 2.5 weeks.

OP
Thank you guys for your shared stories and suggestions. I find the more I take care of her (or try to), the less time I have to worry. And since I'm encouraging her to eat well, I have to eat well in front of her, so that helps.
To the above poster: I am SO sorry to hear about your BF. Grief is grief! It's horrible to endure it, but I'm sure it will make you stronger. I think your small meals of fruit and almonds is awesome. And I agree about the Ensure (but thanks for suggesting it, you guys)- it's kinds gloopy.
A dear friend suggested Carnation Instant Breakfast with soy milk. Less thick.

To both ladies who are going through stress and worry.
You may be suffering from a little depression as well-- Try to get yourself up and moving (even though you don't feel like it), because the endorphins produced during your exercise should help with your mood as well.
Make sure to get plenty of sunlight, and to take vitamnins... Try as much as you can to eat properly... it takes a while to get through difficult times! Talk to your friends, so that you have a shoulder to lean on-- hopefully, things will improve soon and you'll feel better....
It will all take some time....

Wow
Wow! I could not believe what I was reading. Your situation is almost exactly like mine. By bf of 4 years and I have just broken up.. he had cheated on me. I cannot eat, I cannot sleep, I tried going back to the gym in hopes of becoming hungry, but am worried that I may pass out from not eating, and also and worried of losing even more weight by working out, if it doesn't kick start my appetite. I fall asleep late, if at all, and once I am up, I am up... whether it's 5am or 7am.. I'm sorry to hear that everyone here is going through this feeling in one way or another because it hurts so much physically, as well as mentally. My stonach is always in knots, I'm getting weird pains on my right side, I always feel nausea and have thrown up already. If anyone has any advice or mind tricks on how to eat without gagging, please let me know. I do not want to lose weight over this.
