Maybe fat people ARE angry?

I was reading a fascinating article about a man who experienced loss of testosterone during treatment for his prostate (see link). He said: "When I was stoked up on testosterone in the old days, for example, I would obsess about exacting revenge on those who offended me. Now I see the foolishness in such macho fury."

That reminded me of a period in my life that was very stressful, during which I gained a lot of weight, and during which I had a huge amount of anger and hatred for the people causing my stress.

Then I read about PCOS:
"Polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is often considered a symptom rather than a disease. In other words, many conditions that inhibit ovulation can cause the ovaries to appear polycystic and to secrete more androgens (testosterone) than normal. On the other hand, this condition often seems to run in families so it must represent a specific genetic disease in some instances. Suffice it to say that PCOS may have multiple causes, and at least sometimes there is a genetic inherited cause, but not always.

PCOS is often associated with excess body hair growth (hirsutism), obesity, non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and high blood pressure. Current concepts are that the obesity is either a cause or a result of insulin resistance and that the high insulin levels in turn cause excess androgen production in the ovary. ...Thus it is likely that PCOS is often a sign of insulin resistance syndrome and the insulin resistance precedes the androgen excess."

So, in my case, could my stress have caused the obesity and the insulin-resistance, which caused anovulation, which caused too much testosterone, which caused anger and even worse coping ability and even more stress....? Yowza! No wonder I gained weight. Anyone out there experienced anger symptoms after weight gain?
