motivation to exercise

Do find that you are more motivated to exercise if you suit up in your work-out out fit, or if you choose an exercise where you don't need special clothes and just work out whenever you can within your schedule without having to make wardrobe changes?

I'll choose (A) - working out in nice workout clothes. Kind of goes along with the idea that 'look good' = 'feel good' and 'feeling good' leads to 'taking care of myself.' I'm more motivated when I know I look the part! Shlumpy makes me want to stay home and curl up with a book...

motivation to exercise

I find that I can fit in my work out if I choose an exercise like walking which I can do anytime, no matter what I'm wearing, as long as I have on shoes I can walk in. If I had to change clothes every time I worked out (walked) I would never get my work done!

Definitely (A). When I go to the gym, I go in the morning, before heading to my lab. I'm not a morning person at all, and it's actually kind of a relief not to have to curl up my hair, apply makeup, dress nicely -- I can just throw on my gym clothes, pin up my hair, and head out the door. Of course, I do have to take along my day clothing, but usually I'm smart enough to have packed it into my gym bag the night before. Dressing for the gym also reaffirms that I'm actually going to go to the gym. I've found that if I'm not dressed for the gym, I tend to just go to my lab. It's easy to convince myself that my research is more important than my health. And I'm lazy, so I hate to have to dress in street clothes again.
