What's so great about YOU?

I spend way too much time thinking about all the things I would like to change about my body. I can be pretty negative. So, I am wondering, what do you like about yourself? Try to think of something you REALLY like, and not just something other people compliment you about (though it may be one and the same). So, here goes!

I really like my lips, especially when I take the time to wear lipstick.

Your turn!! :)

Great thread! I think that we do tend to be too hard on ourselves.

Hmm...I like my lips also, everyone says they look like Julia Robert's. But, something that no one really comments on that I like are my toes. I have cute little toes. Not to long, and not short and stubby.

I was told one time that I had nice, delicate hands. They're all scratched up now from owning a sugar glider, but...
I love my eyes! They're a golden brown, very pretty...

Wonderful thread to keep us focusing on the positive!

I have lovely skin. Clear, smooth, soft and peachy pink. Glad I married a "tactile" man! ;-)

I actually have two things I love about myself.
One is my brain. I love to learn and I am glad I was blessed with a quick mind. This also helps because I love to read.
The second thing I love is my compassion. I have a big heart. I cry at sad movies or sad parts in a book. I am always for the underdog. I can't stand to see people suffer. I always want to help someone.
These are the things about myself that I value the most. What is on the outside can be changed but who I am on the inside is what makes me special. It is what makes me - me.

I love my shape, I am a very proportionate hourglass and I want to see the proportions collectively shrink! But, the shape is good.

I also like my face. I wouldn't change anything about it except the paralysis from a car accident. I would like more mobility to express myself.

In terms of physical things:

My legs have garnered many a compliment over the years (even though I was unhappy about them until I went to college.)

I also like my smile--I am one of the lucky few who never had to wear braces on my front teeth. (I did have a set of bands to straighten out my molars-- but that had to do with crowding from my wisdom teeth and I only had the bands on for a few months, so I don't count that).

For "non physical things":
I like my intelligence and sense of humor! :-)

I like my eyes. I don't wear eye makeup, because it takes too much time & even my eye doctor commented on their color the other day... They're hazel with mostly green, with my dark brown hair... I like them.

I also like my voice, I'm a singer, and a voice instructor, so that's another positive about me too!

I love my hair and my eyes. I love that I am a mother, that I am a writer. That I am learning who I am again. I love that I am learning how to find the joy in everyday moments, that being perfect will not bring me happiness. I love that I can see myself through my son's eyes. He doesn't see a big post-baby belly, or jiggly thighs or sagging butt and breasts, he sees a loving mother who holds him tight to her chest, who covers his body with tickles and kisses, who rolls and crawls and runs all over the house with him.

I love this thread!

I love that I don't judge people on race, color or creed. I love my laugh...I love that I'm the goofy one in the family, I like my feet and my nose!

I love the comment about "seeing yourself through your son's eyes" if I could only see what my nephew sees....it would be amazing! To see the good in people like a child again for a day would be great!

My smile. Been told many times when I smile my whole face lights up and it makes other people smile when they are having a bad day. Also my skin, keeps everyone guessing on how old I really am. And one day soon it will be my whole apearance.

Keep smiling!!!

Thank you for the thread!

Wow! when I got to thinking about all the stuff I liked about myself I realized it was a much longer list than I thought - it's waaay longer than the stuff I don't like, but somehow I take these qualities for granted and obsess on the things I don't like - go figure...

I won't list everything, but figured I'd note a few for posterity...

My hands and wrists - they are really soft (I've gotten non-stop compliments from every manicurist I've ever gone to) and delicate - yet I'm constantly amazed at how strong they are.

My fingernails - they are really thick and healthy and I can grow them to absurd lengths (but usually don't).

My muscles - I put on muscle fast and lose it slowly. I constantly amaze my physical therapist. I should be ashamed at the extent to which I take this for granted, but my body has always been strong for me.

My brain - it's analytical abilities make me a great living and I adore it's ability to rip apart complex problems and solve them in a logical progression. If I gave my body half the challenges that I give my brain I would be in killer shape. There's a lesson to be learned here.....

The liist goes on - I swear this thread makes me feel downright conceited :-)

I love my eyes, they are very very big and green and my lashes are naturally thick and curly...they are also an exact replica of my mother, aunts, grandmother and great grandmothers eyes so they remind me daily of all the strong women that came before me:)

I tend to like different parts of my body off and on.. A month ago I loved my body (except my legs).. I felt beautiful.. except for my legs, lol..

I like the feel of my hipbones.. Odd one, but yeah.. And I like my collarbones, although I wish they'd be more defined.. Will happen if I lose weight.. Generally I like my hair, lips, and eyes. (my eyes change color).

OH! I love my birthmark!! .. It's the shape of a turkey.. no joke!

I love my body when it's naked. If I could walk around naked, I think I would feel better about myself...more often. I have a nice hourglass figure and I only truly appreciate it when I'm naked. Even at my heaviest weight, I maintain a great shape.

I also love my breast....at age 38, there still in good shape...people pay for breast like mine.

All wonderful comments!

The things I love about myself are my eyes, my smile, my breasts (which I had pierced) and my muscles that are returning, with every workout.
What a wonderful idea to list your positives, and I hope everyone's list gets longer with all of their hard work!

AWESOME thread, first of all.

I'd like to give myself three cheers for my nose (cute as a button hehe), my teeth (straight without braces!! yay!!), my hair (which will go curly, straight, wavy... It'll pretty much do anything I tell it to do), my hands (they're small but I like them!), and lastly, my belly button... it's really cute!!

As for a non-physical thing, I really love how I can laugh at myself when I do something silly. If you can't laugh at yourself, life is just going to stink because everybody makes mistakes sometimes!!

Okay keep posting, and thanks for reminding us that we all have wonderful qualities that sometimes get put on the back burner because we're focusing on the negative. We are all sooooo beautiful!! Keep it up!

Great Thread!

I like my butt, it's very J-Lo/Beyonce-like - nothing wrong with a little booty, expecially if it's toned and healthy :)
I also, like my abs, they're the one part of me that I've always been proud of. They're strong and they make me feel strong all-around.

SUCH a good idea...

Your right, we spend SO much time focusing on the negative and not enough on the positive.

Physical: I like my eyes, they are a really pretty blue and change to green too. I like my complexion...although I don't think so, I'm constantly told it is "perfect". I do rarely get blemishes, but we are our worst critics, right? I also like my breasts. Although I wish they'd shrink a little, they balance me out right now, while my hips are so large. My breasts are a DD and are about the only thing to make me feel sexy right now. Okay...one more! I love my hair. It's so thick that I always get comments. Even from hair stylists. When I take the time to do it...it really is pretty.

Non-Physical: I like my sense of humor. I am constantly making people laugh and am able to laugh at myself too. It helps a lot. I love my ability to create strong bonds with people of all ages. There is so much to learn from people that are years wiser or more innocent. I love how artistic I am and wish that I could find a way to turn it into a living. I love my intelligence and how easily I pick up new things and am able to spread my knowledge amongst others.

Wow...I feel conceited too! LOL. Thanks for making me take the time to focus on the positive for a change. :)

P.S. I want to know too! What's a sugar glider?

OP here. You all made my day with what you had to say about yourselves. I usually fall asleep thinking about all the ways I wish my body would change overnight, but the last couple of nights I thought of the other things I like about myself. My eyes (big and hazel colored) my feet (especially when I paint my toes) my collarbones, neck and back. Hooray! I feel better. Thanks so much. :)

Wow, I really like this positive outlook.
I guess the thing I like most about me is my resilience... life does not tend to knock me down for long. I have a wonderful sense of humor and fair play.
My legs would have to be my best physical feature followed by my smile and my skin and complexion.

This was FANTASTIC! It's great to focus on the positive when we often focus solely on the negative. I love that I have really long legs... I don't know why, I just think it's fun.

I also have what I think are very expressive eyes, you can read most of my thoughts through my eyes...

I love my straight white teeth, that goes with my beautiful smile.
I love my breast not saggy or big at my age (50) is good.
I love my hair, curly and thick.
I love my sexy eyes, you can tell alot about a person by looking into their eyes.
I love my hands, have long fingers great for typing lol.
I love my lips, small and inviting.

I could go on and on but most of all I love me for who I am.

What a wonderful thread, thanks!

physical traits...
I love the color of my hair, brown/black w/just a few strands of grey (looks almost silver) and the natural curl!
I like that even though I'm over-weight, my weight is so evenly distributed; I'm just big all over. ;oD
I love my height!

non-pysical traits...
I love how I always look for the positive in other people.
I love just helping people out.
I love my desire to be creative

I love that I'm not perfect & I know that I don't need to be so; but that I do the best I can!

A Sugar Glider is a small gliding possum.

Anyway, I Love my eyes. I truly believe that if I were to wear a burka, I would be gorgeous. My eyes are almond shaped and slighly slanted. I find them to be pretty, but they don't look that way behind my glasses! lol

I also love my adaptability, I can be spontaneous as well as solid & responsible. I think thats a good trait.

hmmmmm lets think
the thing that I love is my confidence. Even when I am having a not so pretty day I carry myself as though I am and have been told that my confidence is very attractive. Thats not to be confused with cocky though because I find that repulsive.
I like my face. I have a straight white smile and my features are all proportioned. I like my eyes (minus the few wrinkles and Im only twenty four but I laugh a ton) I like my boobs big time, they are not huge but with the right bra I can have some pretty crazy cleavage-not to mention that my bf loves them and tells me so alllllll the time. Im getting a four pack and like that. I would have never thought of this on my own but I like my wrists also :)

What a concept!

I like the idea that we can talk about what is right about us!

I turned 45 this week and I overheard my husband telling his buddies, he could 'crack an egg on my wife's ass, she really build solid'. I think for my age my breasts are in really good shape. What I like most about myself is my ability to adapt to any situation.
