Total Body Gym

Does any one have one of those "Total Body Gyms" by Chuck Noris? The commercial makes it look great but I wanted to get other opinions. Thank you :)

Nope, just a treadmill. I would be curious to hear what people think, though. Good question.

total body gym

I was going to get one from my perq's from work..it's like points to buy things with..I spoke to a personal trainer who told me he'd rather see me buy a total gym at kmart for about $180.00 (it's the same one that walmart has for $195.00) that does a lot more then this total gym! My trainer said he was part of the experiment and actually said it wasn't even worth his time even though he did get to keep the equipment for free! Told me to "SAVE YOUR MONEY" Said it's best to invest in a "GOOD PILATES DVD AND A GOOD TOTAL GYM FROM KMART FOR ABOUT $180.00"
So there you have it from a Certified Personal Trainer!

I used a Total Gym for a long time and had absolutely amazing results with it for my upper body. They are inexpensive - if you are thrifty you can pick them up on craigslist or at a garage sale - I paid 50 bucks for mine three summers ago.

Price for total body gym?

Prices seem to be all over the place. Do you get a better deal on the total body website if you can't find a used one?

prices for a total gym

I just finished posting my thoughts on the Totaly Gym at the end of the artical done by the editorial team, here on Peer Trainer.

I'm using one my husband and I bought 5 years ago or so for about a hundred dollars at our local hardware/department store. I don't think the more expensive ones offer more than this one would except the squat stand attachment. I use the pull up bar attached at the bottom and it works just as well.

I find the upper body workout harder than the legs but I hold onto dumbbells when I do my squats on the Total Gym and it greatly increases the work. Doing one leg at a time also increases the work.

I think it's a great machine!

Total body gym

Total Body Gym (Chuck Norris) is the at-home version of a gym equipment line called Gravity machines made by the same company. They are the same, but the gym version is much heavier/more solid. To get in shape for my wedding, I took Gravity Classes at my old gym. It's a strength-training class that gives you quicker results than pilates. I LOVED it. It is gentle on the joints and fun to use. (It actually originated from the rehab machines they use at physical therapy). And you can work out every body part. We would alternate with floor exercises or cardio (e.g., 5 minutes jumping jacks). Best class ever. (see link if anyone is curious or lives in Boston). When I moved to the South, I couldn't find any gyms in driving distance that had Gravity machines. One of the trainers I talked to (ex-NFL) also agreed that it was a great workout and wanted his gym to buy some. Long story short, my husband and I agree that the at-home version will be the first piece of gym equipment we buy when we have the space for a home gym, but I have thus far only used the gym version. And no, I do not work for the company! :)
