California Train Wreck

An acquaintence of mine lives in PA and has a son who's a freshman at USC Berkley. He was having severe pains in his abdomen but didn't go to the ER because, on the local news, they asked people to avoid the ER if at all possible due to all of the train accident casualties. After a few days the pain subsided and he thought he had gotten over a virus. Suddenly his temp shot up and his friends finally convinced him to go to the hospital. Turns out his appendix had ruptured days before and infection was spreading throughout his body. He was admitted to ICU and did not respond to the antibiotics. Here is a message I just received from one of her other sons:

"Jason is not breathing on his own and will not be able to even if he wakes up. His seizures caused too much brain damage after the stroke. He’s had pieces of his brain tissue removed that were vital to independent living. My mom is hoping against hope that all the amazing prayers will be answered. Tomorrow is the day when our future course is decided. Either mom and dad will transfer him to a long term care facility or we will watch him die and have his organs harvested. I will never forget my brother. I never would have believed something like this could happen to him. The best word for it is tragic. He was passionate about his life in a way that made my brother and I envious. He was funny. Man was he funny. I don’t know how we will push through this but we will."

I don't know why I'm sharing this with all of you. I guess I just want to remind everyone to count your blessings and to be thankful for everything that is good and going right in your life.
