55 and Recovering from Surgery

Help ... I'm trying to get back in shape but am hampered with a surgical repair to incisional hernia in my core which has left me misshapen, and unable to function without abdominal binders around my middle ... holding everything together.

Yes, I've been back to my surgeon ... I've gotten a second opinion, and am seeing yet a third surgeon this week. In the meantime ... there is likely no such thing as a "repair for the repair," and ... in short -- musculature that was severed in my middle has never reconnected (and probably never will).

Be that as it may ... I'm trying to trim down from 180 to something quite less than this. One step (pound) at a time, as the saying goes.

I've recently found I can pick up the pace from walking on treadmill to jogging, but only for short periods of time (and only with abdominal binders, because pounding is hard on my core). Am comfortable with a 10- to 12-minute mile pace, but can only run short periods ... probably because I'm so darn fat. So to-date, I'm running, then walking, then running, then walking.

Is there a site anyone knows of that lists "dance" or "music to move to" at different mile rates? Some of Bonnie Raitt is good. Some of Dylan. Some of Travelling Wilburys, etc., but I'd love to find a whole 30-minute program I could download ....

P.S. This is now two years post-op, and yes, it does suck that surgical matters would persist so long.

Very happy to have found you here .... Would also appreciate recommendation(s) for what groups I might fit into.

Formerly fit ... on my way back to fab.
